what im asking is,

will a 100mhz change make a difference at all?
how much should i really be expecting to change when over clocking, bear in mind the 6870 is a toasty card and im on air at the mo biggrin.gif

Because of the fact GPU's have so many SP's, even 100mhz will yield results. With a 6870 100mhz would get you probabl 3-5% more FPS in a game. Different graphics cards have different limits as well as different gains from overclocking. For example, a bone stock titan has a core clock of around 850 mhz. Some people have overclocked them to 1400mhz+ which is crazy. But some gpu's don't overclock well at all. A 6870 should be able to overclock a couple hundred mhz and yield tangible results. Basically, keep increasing the core clock until it either becomes unstable or too hot.

To sum it up, yes it's worth it and you should expect at least an extra 5-10% performance from you gpu for free! Have fun
