New water cooled gaming rig with the potential for solid overclocking. Need some build advice from the professionals.

G'day ladies and gents. I'm looking to put together my first custom water cooled gaming machine though I thought I'd put it into the Intel forum to get a good idea of which way I should go with my components.

I'm looking to spend ~$2k on the build not including the custom loop and I'm struggling to decide which CPU, Motherboard & Graphics cards to purchase. The build is a rough draft and looks like this at the moment: http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=wish_lists&wlcId=217716&action=wish_lists

I'd rather readily available well known, well priced and proven tech over bleeding-edge and insanely priced components. I plan on commencing this build over the Christmas break and am considering the current gen of ATI cards as (hopefully) they'll lower slightly in price as the next gen is released in the near future. I'm of the opinion that I'll need a 3GB video card or higher to easily play games at 2560x1600 with the option to have another lower resolution monitor running with a browser and TS/Vent on the side. I'm not sure whether a pair of 7950's is the way to go, but I'd rather crossfire (if required) during the initial build instead of later so that I don't have to pull down the loop and reconstruct it just to add on another card later down the track.

I know there's no such thing as future proofing, but I'd like to future-mitigate as much as possible so that this thing will still be able to tackle demanding games in a few years time like my current rig that I built in 2010 with some minor upgrades does.

Please take a look over the build and let me know if I could improve it without blowing the price out too much. I know all of the components aren't top of the line, but I hope that the ones I have chose are enough to handle the task before them.

I normally use coloured tubing instead of coloured liquid, can end problems in some cases when the blocks get clogged

I would check this new res/pump combo if you are going with the photon res plus D5 pump.

Thanks for the replies thus far guys. I forgot to mention in the initial post that after I get the hardware components sorted the plan will be to use a colour scheme inspired by Portal 2 with the Repulsion Gel (Blue), Propulsion Gel (Orange/Red) and Conversion Gel being the colours I want to see in the pipes. So using a white additive should give a good solid "gel" appearance to the liquid and provide me with the Conversion Gel colour in the reservoir although this brings a risk of potentially causing a blockage. Shout out to Legonut for his Portal themed G5

I'm tempted to stick with the 4 DIMMs purely for the aesthetics as I can't find 2GB 1866 modules in the QVL that this provider stocks and of a brand that I'm familiar with. I'm aware even with multiple game clients and associated programs running simultaneously that I barely get over 6GB at the best of times.

Looks like it doesn't need 850w (Cheers for the chart Pontiac) though this supplier doesn't sell a white 750w PSU =/ Maybe I should buy a black 750w and give it a custom paint job!

Do you think I should stick with the i5 or consider i7? Is there a significant benefit in games other than BF3 that can be achieved with Hyperthreading? Is there a single graphics card that could easily provide 2560x1600 gaming with a secondary monitor on the side that would be comparably priced to a pair of 7950's?

The PC Power & Cooling Silencer Mk III 750 watts is white

Or you could get the older NZXT HALE 90 V1

Which funny enough is based on the same platform as the MK III
