With AMD you spend less on the CPU but you need to spend more on the motherboard.

I have the GA-990FXA-ud3 rev4 and its great. The rev4 is best with a redesigned VRM that runs cool. It can be identified (from other revs) by a heat pipe that goes from the NB to VRM cooler.

I would recommend this board because of the price and performance.

To stay under your $300 you'll need to go with a 8320 and not an 8350 for your build because you don't want to go cheap on your motherboard.

yea if i decide to go the "AMD route", it looks like ill have to go with the 8320 to stay within budget. Thanks for suggesting the rev4 aswell. I will look into that to see if i can identify it correctly just in case. Thanks again
