What are the stats of most regular wireless mice?

So I was looking for a wireless gaming mouse to supplement my wired one when on the go and stuff, but most are over $80 and have horrid battery life, compared to $20-$30 mice with years of battery life, why is this?

What is the poling rate of normal mice? I was looking at the Mad Catz R.A.T. M because it had my requirements (small wireless adapter and good battery life) but only has a poling rate of 125hz.

Are most mice 120 or 125hz? or are they worse?

Now I know poling rate is directly related to battery life because it is how many times the mouse needs to use its transmitter to send info but still a mouse with 2 years of battery life should have around 6 months at 500hz and 3 months at 1000 right? Do the more accurate lasers take a lot more power?

The only other mouse I found with a small connector and up to 1000hz polling is the Logitech G700s but it only has like 2 days of battery life frown.gif. The Razer orochi also frustrates me as it only takes 1 battery, I think 2 would be a lot better or 8 lol.

Guess I'm asking how "bad" are non gaming mice, and are there any mice I am missing or do I have to wait till the Logitech 602 comes out?

I think the best wireless gaming mouse would be 500hz polling with 5-6000dpi if they could get 3-6 months of battery life with a good low battery indicator.

The report rate is one important aspect, but the most significant is actually the amount of power it takes to collect high-speed movement data. Gaming sensors like the one in the G700 use more power because they collect more information more quickly in order to more accurately process movement. This is, as you can probably imagine, antithetical to battery life. However, since you cap out at 20 inches per second or less on standard sensors because they are not designed to acquire information quickly, it was a worthwhile tradeoff before we had the G602's sensor.

Depending on the application, you may not notice it the difference between a gaming and a standard wireless mouse. Most people who've used a gaming mouse, however, report that standard mice feel "floaty" or otherwise imprecise. This has less to do with the wireless communication itself than it does the power saving mechanisms (reduced sensor framerate, reduced LED pulse frequency, more aggressive sleep timers, etc) that are put in place to drive long-term battery life.

Well most gaming mice are like stupid, like 10' per second or something where you would have to be bowling with your mouse to max it out, so couldn't they come to a compromise of like 1 or 2 feet per second?

I feel floaty at 125hz but 500 and 1000 are good.

Is the 602 out yet?

This is exactly what we did when designing the sensor in the G602. It caps out at 80 IPS, which is fast but not difficult for many people to exceed. Going lower than 80 IPS makes it too easy to cause the mouse to exhibit speed-related tracking anomalies, so that's really the sweet spot for performance vs battery life.

The G602 is already shipping. Depending on what country you live in, it may be longer before it's available in your area.

Hmm thats cool 500hz vs 1000 too, like I said... kind of disappointed it doesn't appear to have right and left scroll click like the G600 and G700s.

What does the endurance mode change? And does the 602 come packaged with 2 eneloops like the G700s? Really like to see companies including quality stuff like eneloop batteries vs cheap junk.

Endurance mode reduces battery consumption in a number of ways that ultimately also reduce max tracking speed, max acceleration detection, and to a certain extent overall responsiveness of the cursor. Even in endurance mode it performs better than a standard mouse, but it is not quite gaming quality so we allow the user the choice of how to use the mouse.

The G602 ships with two Duracell alkaline batteries.

Ahhh a suppose due to the substantially longer battery like it doesn't have the charging cable like the G700s, you just swap the batteries when there dead
