So, about 2cm? Not that much really. It's still perfectly reasonable to compare this brand new, just released, flagship phone with another. Especially when they use the same SOC and clock speeds.

You can't compare a Phablet to a Phone in form factor, I did mention Note 3 is 33% larger in front area which you dismissed or skimmed over, 2cm would be a big difference in the size of a phone. Note 3 is larger than N5 by a higher percentage(33%) than the N5 is larger than Iphone 5S (23%).

The Nexus 5 will be a lot more comfortable in hand for most people, and will be easier to use single handed.

It's still perfectly reasonable to be comparing these two devices, is all I'm saying. They're quite similarly spec'ed and released at the same time.

The difference in size and price are too large for a realistic comparison, the only spec they have in common is the SOC(even that is not 100%, Note 3 have Exynos 5420 models).

People who have the need to buy a Note 3 wouldn't really consider a Nexus 5 as it lack the screen size & pen support they desire, those are that drawn to Nexus 5 for AOSP and unlocked bootloader isn't going to consider a $700+ 5.7" Phablet with Touchwiz all over. Compare the Note 3 with S800 phablets such as Xperia Z Ultra & the upcoming One Max, and compare Nexus 5 with other S800 phones such as G2 & Z1.

I completely disagree. You're already comparing the two smile.gif

Anyone who was in the market for a brand new smartphone might want to pay the extra for the larger display, RAM capacity, battery and sdcard slot.

You might want to run some benchmarks on the (TwDFVSApp.apk disabled of course, to stop the boosting) and compare the performance. Maybe the Nexus 5 compares very well and is cheaper. Maybe it performance only slight worse and is is clearly more good looking because of the lower price, etc.

Point is they're flagship phones and it's perfectly reasonable to be comparing them, and they shall be compared whether we like it or not!

I know tons of people who were comparing the nexus and note line. If you're saying the nexus line is not comparable because of it's cost compared to the note 3 then the nexus line cannot be comparable to any new high end smartphone lol

So, we couldn't compare the SGS4 to the HTC One, since one has TouchWiz and the other has Sense? Of course we can.

I'll place money on the Nexus having the Adreno 330 GPU along with the S800, which makes the two even more comparable.

I don't understand why you think it sin't reasonable or a done thing to compare them? You call a device a Phablet and then it isn't in the same comparison range as other clearly comparable devices? Come on tongue.gif

The Note 3 has a bigger display, bigger battery, 1GB more RAM (most likely LPDDR3?) an SDcard slot and a removable battery. The CPU is the same, the GPU is very likely to be the same and the display resolution is the same. They will be compared a lot.

For me, the clear winner is the Nexus 5, because it's cheaper, has stock Android but will be quite comparable in terms of performance. Someone else has a totally different opinion.

Point is, you can't place artificial limits on what you can compare and then tell someone "people won't understand why" when people already are comparing the two. Even in this very thread. You can be that person who fights with everyone over whether to compare or not, or you can just get on with the job.

S800 is a SOC(not a CPU), Adreno 330 is part of that SOC. There is no S800 variant without Adreno 330(clocks could be different among various S800 variants), nice try. rolleyes.gif

If you insist on comparing Phablets with Phones, feel free. Just don't count on everyone to accept your opinion that they are comparable. The size difference is too substantial for me to accept a realistic comparison, not when better comparisons for both phones exist(G2/Xperia Z1).
