Overclocked my Q9450, now looking for watercooling - Page 4

Well I ended up getting a Thermaltake water 2.0 pro because money is tight right now and it was actually cheaper than the performance 2.0. Went to install it and it has the wrong plate for a LGA775 socket. They are sending me one out so this will give me some time to some temp testing. Realtemp reads GPU @40c and CPU cores @ 34/37/33/35c OC'd to 3.4\GHZ after about 30 mins.

Bumping up all the fans on the fan controller gives no real difference in temps which tells me that the airflow in this case sucks mainly due to the lack of cable management (rats nest inside frown.gif) . Might spring for a 400r or 500r but seems like they are cheaply made/quality. I'll have to look at the previous pages and see where those CPU stress test programs are.

Anything else I should try? At this point I REALLY want to get a new case, the airflow in this cosmos is BAD. I was going to throw the innards into a CM stacker case I have laying around but that thing is practically made of tin foil.

Your temperatures are really good. Honestly I wouldn't see the point in buying a $100 or $150 case just to shave off a degree or two. 37C max temperature under a full load is amazing, pretty close to some of the high-end custom loops around here.

Actually that's idle, I forgot to mention. I just did a stress test with intel burn test (standard) and the cores maxed out at 61/57/63/62c.

This is with an aftermarket air cooler but I cant for the life of me remember what brand it is. This whole system is about 5 yrs old.

That is still really great. The other thing is water cooling will produce heat from the radiator and not around the processor. Your temps are fine how they are tough.
