Some strange "hang up" after rebooting.

Downloaded ASUS Overclocking utility that my board came with. Messed around with overclocking, different settings both in Bios and with the software. Ok. I then went back to everything stock and removed the software.

Now when I boot into Windows, the little icon for the internet connection is stuck with the little blue circle for about a minute, and I can't open certain programs until it is resolved. I can open up Mozilla and get online, but I can't run the uninstaller for anything, can't open CPUID or a variety of other programs until boom, all at once they all open......a minute later. I'm not sure what the deal is. Hardware wise everything is back to stock, and I've erased all of the overclocking software.

But this hang up is nearly a minute long, and I can't really do anything till it decides to complete.

Ideas?

Sounds like key Windows files are corrupted. I personally do not advise using an overclocking tool within an OS, as it introduces a variety of issues. BIOS is your best and most effective bet.

Try uninstalling the application, which should take things to default. Then, reboot and try these specific programs again.

Edit: Either that or for some reason the Overclocking application is taking precedence over important Windows features, which is causing the system to slow.

Same problem here.
I removed Asus Fastboot. That seems to be helping.

Fixed it. Not sure really how....I removed all of the Asus AI suite, ran CCLeaner, and she is flying again. Odd.

It was most likely because of the AsusFastBoot billbartuska was talking about. I would just manually overclock through BIOS. OC suites within Windows are unstable.

Just a note.

Fast Boot isn't an OC utility.

FastBoot - A program that helps accelerate boot up times in Windows 7 64-bit operating systems by tuning the BIOS and delaying the time of specified startup programs.

Why get to the desktop faster if you can't do what you want when you get there?????
