HI,

I enabled in the BISO the Optional Fan connectors but with the Asus Fan Xpert 2 i can only control the Case Fans but not the Optional Fans, is this normal?

Use ASUS AI Suites II's Fan Expert+, this is a program that is usable within windows and will allow you to set the fan speeds to as low as ~40% It also allows you to create custom fan profiles. This allows control for CPU FAN, OPTional fan 1, OPTional fan 2.

I just got a Z87 Pro, have not installed it yet, but I was googling around to figure out what the best fan placement might be. It's my understanding CPU Opt fan header cannot be independently controlled, it just mirrors the CPU fan header. In the Asus tutorial video for Fan Xpert 2, there isn't even a tab for the Opt header, just Cpu fan and the 4 chassis headers.

Seems like the Opt header is just a built in y splitter.
