Best headphones with detachable cable? ($100-200 AUD)

Hi there, im looking for a new pair of headphones with a detachable cable. I had my eye on the ATH M50's but I really want a good pair with a removable cable, as I am prone to forgetting that they're on and I'm a bit paranoid about breaking them. My price range is around 100-200 Australian dollars, or around the ATH-M50's price point. I'd really appreciate some suggestions as I'm not very experienced with headphones. I mainly want them for music, with gaming being secondary. Cheers

Thanks!
I also have to add that the M50's are mainly for music listening, bass makes it hard to pick details on games and the soundstage is not very good. That's why the recommendation of the sones. smile.gif

Yup, I'd agree with this. For gaming, best bet is, imo, a open-back design (such as the AT ATH-AD700) as the bass can make it tougher to pick up lighter noises.

That being said, if you lean more towards music, the M50's are a solid choice no doubt!

Yeah, I favour my music listening much more than my gaming so M50's it is tongue.gif and people said they don't have much bass...wow

While I haven't received mine yet, I want to suggest V-Moda Crossfade M-80. In the same price range, with detachable cable. I ordered a pair for primary music, and it also comes with 2 cables (one for iOS devices with 3 buttons, and a more generic 1 button for other devices), but you can also get one of these:
http://v-moda.com/boompro-microphone/

To turn them into a headset great for gaming. I'm not sure if this is a common feature in the headphone world, but I love the versatility of the M-80s. I just hope they sound good when I get them tomorrow (I'm sure they sound great). biggrin.gif

Definitely not as good as something like the AD700's for competitive gaming but they are alot funner headphone and much more flavourful.
You can also mod the m50's with a removable cable yourself http://www.head-fi.org/t/553483/ath-m50-removable-cable-mod. smile.gif
