Hey there

my kaspersky internet security 2013 is expiring in like 2 weeks from now, and i'm between buying kaspersky internet security 2014 or kaspersky pure 3

what do you guys think?

somewhere i read that the virus engine of KIS 2013 is better than Pure 3.0, i dont know about KIS 2014 though...

I don't know for sure if the virus engine between KIS and Pure is the same or not, so I can't comment on that. TBH though, I can't see it being much different at all since it wouldn't make sense to develop a new engine when Kaspersky already has a successful virus engine developed. To me, Pure adds a few more things to the Internet Security Suite - Password manager, data backup, etc...

If it was me, I'd stick with just using the Internet Security only. The extras on Pure 3.0 are nice but I personally lean toward some proven software in this area. i.e. Lastpass for password management, Macrium Reflect for disk imaging/backup, True Crypt for Encryption, etc... Basically, I don't like to put too many eggs in one basket. smile.gif

That said, KIS is a great product. What it does, it does well. AV-Test just finished their testing for August and Kaspersky scored very well. Note the protection rating is top notch while the Performance impact is quite minimal. Another interesting test is Matousec's Proactive Security Challenge which checks the ability to block by-passing the firewall - basically a HIPS test (this is an older test result, but KIS 2013 still ranks quite well here). Also, AV-Comparatives has lots of good tests you can read up on - Real World Performance Tests, Performance Tests, etc... I can't link directly to these as it's against the TOS of AV-C, but KIS ranks quiet well with these guys as well...it's a very good package. thumb.gif
