Ordered the following...

CPU/GPU A10-6800K http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819113331 -$15 promo = $135
The $15 promo code and the intrigue of the APU solution sucked me in. I would probably still suggest that the intel route is better on paper unless this is OCed quite a bit, but this will at least be fun.

HSF CM 120MM tower kit: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835103182 = $25
I normally never suggest rifle style coolers, but in the case I am using, I believe a large down-blowing cooler would just cause undesirable turbulence and "dead-spots" of flow resulting in less overall cooling through the case. Also, I don't normally like a tall sink sticking side-ways off a motherboard, but in the prodigy case this is not a problem, and this appears to be one of the 120mm rifles that will fit comfortably in the prodigy.

MOBO GIGABYTE GA-F2A85XN-WIFI FM2 AMD A85X ITX: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128628 $113
Needed Wifi built in to keep the PCIE slot free in case we want to go discrete later. Noticed it came with heatsinks on the VRMs which is promising for use with the flagship APU, and gigabyte typically plays nice with linux. Dual HDMI out is actually very useful for this build as well. (it can be connected to an HDMI monitor and our HT receiver over HDMI this way, very convenient IMO)

RAM RIPJAW 2133-9-11-11: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231689 -10% promo = $72
I'm excited to tinker and see if I can get this to run at 2400 or faster with looser timings. I'm especially interested in doing some tinkering to determine what tweaks in RAM help the APU's GPU performance the most.

HD Single platter 1TB Seagate: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822148840 -$10 promo = $60
I've used one of these before, acceptably quiet and very good mechy drive performance for the money.

BluRay Asus: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827135247 -$10 promo = $48
Uncharted waters here. Not even sure if I'll be able to use it in linux, experimental wink.gif

PSU FSP GOLD 400W: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817104172 -$5 promo = $56
Short enough to fit comfortably in Prodigy case. Has 2x6+2pin connections for future discrete options if the demand arises.

Case BitFenix Prodigy ITX: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811345016 $80
No explanation required. These are nifty looking wink.gif

Monitor Cheapo IPS: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824005363 -$10 promo = $120
Keyboard: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16823126278 $25

~$735 shipped

Talked to Wife about the color thing, she actually didn't care much for a colored case. So went with the above to cut costs while maintaining a Prodigy build. The 6800K is going to be given a chance to make a case for an APU's GPU with me, if we run into performance problems we'll drop in something discrete and take the load off of the APU.
