Someone might be able to explain this better than I can...but from what I've understood, games will typically look at available vRAM as "wasted" vRAM and pre-load more textures and things to avoid doing it later. So what the game can use and what the game actually requires are two different things. I hope this makes sense. smile.gif

Yeah, it makes sense and it would explain why when I had a HD 7950 I saw 1940MB of VRAM usage in BF3 @ 1080p. It still worries me, but I guess I'll end up getting a second 670 anyway.

2140MB in Kharg. Haven't measured Shanghai. It's beta anyway.

Oddly enough just got back to my pc...but was playing BIoshock Infinite over again yesterday cause the steam sale and was running 150-300fps. I just think it prerendered frames using up that excess vram.
