Okay I know this is in the wrong section but it does involve an Intel CPU and! motherboard smile.gif

I want your opinion, thoughts, anything

Current rig in signature

Phenom II 955 C2 Black, one core is faulty, so its a 3.2Ghz tri core

Gigabyte motherboard has loads of Sata issues, but is "Stable" ish

Graphics card is okay, runs most games alright, struggles in BF3/BF4 on anything above low

So given what I just posted, would you

A: Get a Asus Z77 board w/ 3750K

or

B: Get an MSI GTX 770 Power

or

C: ?

Just tossing this out there, if I had the money id do both, and replace the monitor and ram as well. But I have no choice but to do it step by step

Thanks for any input!

Anyone? well to update, I did some tests and it looks like i'm CPU bound by a mile. BF3/4 CPU is 100% GPU 40% or lower. In BF4 when the game locks up, GPU usage drops to 14-10% but CPU usage stays maxed. So the game must be running into interrupts from the CPU.

Certain games like BF are known heavy cpu heavy hitters. I'd get the new board and cpu.

If I were you, I'd get an i5-4670K + Gigabyte GA-Z87X-UD3H instead of a new GPU.

Somehow it hadn't dawned on me until last night that Haswell was out. Gunning for a 4670K and Z87 Sabertooth, @svenge I would go Gigabyte but too many bad experienced just push me away. I'm sure the faults reside in AMDs old Sata6 controllers, but, I just cant Q_Q

No matter what way you go, you won't get "good enough" gaming performance, so i'll suggest you first get a good CPU (3770k/4770k/3570/4670k), and a Good sli/x-fire Mobo to pair up, then later when you have more money, snag a Gtx 770/760 (depending on how much you have), or even get one of the AMD 2xx GPU's if you don't mind using one wink.gif

That would be what i would do if i was you. Pairing up a 770 with your current processor and mobo = heavy bottleneck

Meh, no manufacturer ever has a 100% approval rating. I'm sure than an ASUS board would work just fine for you as well.
