Windows 7 can't install drivers through windows update

Thread Starter
Hello everyone,

Whenever I plug something into my computer running Windows 7 Pro x64, such as a USB keyboard or printer, Windows Update searches for the driver but never find it. I know these devices are working because they work with every other computer I plug them in to. I would install the driver for my printer (Canon PIXMA iP6700D) manually, but on the Canon website, it says I can only install the driver through Windows Update. This only started happening recently, my computer wasn't always like this. Does anyone know what the problem might be?

What kind of Keyboard you using?

This sounds funny, but does the internet work on that computer? Also do the Windows Update see regular and critical updates...or even installs those updates?

Uninstall any of the Asus Turbo USB 3.0 drivers...reboot and see what happens.

Could always go to command prompt as admin and do a sfc /scannow to see you have file system errors.
