How much of a noise difference is 5 dba?

Actually noticeable. I have never studied anything in English so I'm bad with mathematical terms, so go easy on me.
With noise levels, it doesn't increase linearly. Someone else can fill me in due to my lack of words jealoussmiley.gif

Every 10dBA increase sounds 2 times as loud to our ears.

40dBA is twice as loud as 30dBA
50dBA is twice as loud as 40dBA
60dBA is twice as loud as 50dBA

nerdsmiley.png. Wow, that's quite a difference then.
And with regards to MSI after burner, I've had that installed and keep my gpu fan no more than 45% under load.
30% is usually a nice speed and stays relatively quiet .

If anything I honestly think it's either the h100 ( pump maybe??) or the fans

I doubt it is your GPU fan then, 45% should not be really really loud.

What RPM are all the fans? Youve got 3 or 4 different kind of fans in your system. If they are all 1500-1800 rpm and youve got 8 of them, its going to sound like a wind tunnel.

1500 and 1300 rpm fans are not going to be really loud on their own, but considering you've got 8 of them its going to amplify a lot. Ive got 4 120mm fans and a 200mm fan in mine. I just turned my 4 120s up to 1500 and it is quite annoying to me. With 4 more it would be much more so.

You might find these interactive graphs helpful. Click on fan in list to highlight and see it on graph. Click again to remove. Move cursor across graph to see dBA & CFM specs of all fans on graph.

Hey all, I just installed my NZXT Sentry Mix 2 fan controller and my Lord....what a difference!! lol biggrin.gif

When I'm not gaming I turn all the sliders down all the way (40% total speed) and the rig becomes DEAD SILENT.

Thanks everyone for the help!

I would put the H100 as exhaust in the top and get rid of all those extra fans you have up there. Personally I also bought a Bitfenix Recon to use use with my stock Switch fans also. Cheap fan controllers like this do generate a little heat because they are essentially burning off the extra power before it goes to the fans but they serve there purpose as far as eliminating some noise. If you want to go even quieter you can replace the fans with 140mm Noctua fans or something like that.

Edit: Sorry didn't notice this was only bumped because it was solved.
