AMD 8350 gaming with a Graphics Card - Page 2

Ditch the seagate, they suck, go with a western digital blue.

Thhat's a locked processor although you're going with a locked motherboard as well.. Are you sure you want to do that? I mean, you're going to kick yourself when you can't overclock.

I wouldn't go with that PSU though, have a look at

-.- Why do people always hate on Seagate? I have had more trouble out of my WD Blacks than my Seagate Barracudas! Every brand has its bad batches, and from my experience the Seagates have performed extremely well!

Make sure, if you go WD Blue, that you get a 7200 RPM drive and not the 5400 RPM model. Very large difference in performance between the two speeds.

I also would take a second look at getting an unlocked processor/board. An extra ~$20AU and you have an unlocked processor, 4670k. I didn't know that board was locked, so maybe someone else can give suggestions on a good board. (I run primarily AMD so I'm not familiar with the new Intel boards yet. biggrin.gif)

EDIT: Scratch that, that is the older Seagate with 500GB/platter. Try to find the single platter TB drives. THOSE are the ones I know run well.
The Blue WD is only $3AU more on that site. Go that. I retract my earlier statement. biggrin.gif

I hate on seagate because they suck... It's not about fanboism or anything, they just aren't very good.

Also, it's the EZEX model you want of the blue, It outperforms the blacks. biggrin.gif

As for a motherboard, the GA-Z87X-D3H is epic.

Any B series motherboards aren't able to overclock biggrin.gif

Meh, everyone has their opinion and experiences. My experiences with WD have been negative while the Seagates have been positive which makes my opinion different. (My opinion is that Seagates perform as well as WD and haven't died on me so they do not suck in my opinion)

I just relized my Title is wrong biggrin.gif Should say AMD 8350 without graphics card temporaily setup....

Anyway, the build is kind of on a budget of my mother's words "not too much, liek your one costing $1,500" Which is completely overkill, but not setup to be overclocked or anything like that...yet ahahha

SO alright don't get all worked up on the brands of harddrives and what not.....whatever works, and is a appealing price is fine.

The overclcoking situation is one Im not too keen about. Unless it truly did benifeit something, like persay the graphics then yes fine. But then we'd have to fine a suitable cooling solution adding more $$$$$$

Funny, Im on overclock/net and I've never overclocked. Just don't feel the need to with my i7 3770K and gtx660 2GB OC by GIgabyte.....everythings running fine with a Kingston HyperX 120GB SSD thumb.gif

Sorry about going with Intel anyway, but I'll just go with what I know works, and add in a GPU later which should work fine.

Question: How good or how fast, must a CPU be to not do the bottleneck thing with a GPU? I just feel any 3.0GHz+ CPU is good enough for any combintion of GPU setup for awhile. Especially when we wont be spending and excessive amount highger than $300AUD

To be honest, any new CPU with a single GPU won't bottleneck, if you start looking at SLi or Tri-SLi then yeah, you might need to overclock, but even then it'll only bottleneck at stupid high resolutions.

Yes exactly, as long as its Quad-Core it'll be fine. 3.0GHz+ is my sweet spot. 5GHz, is just for people with media-editing tasks that need the power right?
And a single GPU setup will 99% never change into a dual GPU setp thumb.gif

And I gave you rep twice btw.

I'd probably put it down to about 80% of people don't do it. But yeah that's the mistake people make when they build a machine, they don't appreciate how powerful the cards they put in actually are.

There's nothing wrong with those ST1000DM003 drives from Seagate. The only problem I have with buying this drive from that seller is that the description and specs given for the drive are WRONG on their website. The question becomes, are they sending the ST1000DM003 OR what they have described? The thing they are giving a description for is an older product with poor reliability and performance by comparison.

For all intents and purposes, the WD10EZEX and ST1000DM003 are interchangeable. Same warranty, same platter density, same tech "generation," both have been around for long enough to reveal similar reliability trending, similar performance and power consumption. The WD is slightly quieter while the Seagate is slightly faster.
