Please help me pick a cheap motherboard for overclocking FX-6300 to 4.5 Ghz

Okay. Did a whole bunch of reading up on the VRM power phase thing. I know I need a good phase count with cooling. So with that in mind, I selected what I think would be the best choices for a new motherboard.

My power goal is 4.5 Ghz. Possibly higher.

And I'm trying to keep my budget to right around the $100 mark. I know, I know.... cheap and overclocking don't go well together.

I'm pretty much set on a 970 board. I really don't want to pay extra for a 990fx board as I don't need crossfire.

Open to suggestions but these are the boards I was considering:

GIGABYTE GA-970A-D3P

I hear GIGABYTE has throttling issues? Is this true with this board?

ASRock 970 EXTREME4

ASRock 970 Extreme3 R2.0

not 100% sure but I think it was the extreme 4 that had the VRM issues,,,i would spend the extra cash and get the ASUS m5a99fx pro,,,perfect match for the 6300

I think an Asus M5A97 EVO R2.0 is what he need, but maybe for a few dollars more...

Sabertooth 990FX R2.0 all the way man.
Hated ASUS for a long time ,but for AMD CPU-s can t get something better.
Avoid Gigabyte for AMD builds it become junk.

Want cheaper builds that work for real go for FM2.
AM3+ is no more budget stuff , if you want overclocking ,you ll get throttling instead of performance.

Ordered the Asus M5A97 R2.0

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131873R

Newegg didn't have it in stock so I just went ahead and bought an open box one. I hope this will suffice.

you shouldn't have any problems getting 4.5 on that board,,its still a little light weight in the power department,,make sure you get a fan on the VRMs heatsink,,,also check the NB with your hand when your overclocking,,it can get pretty toasty to,,might need a fan also

Cool thanks. What kind of fan? Like a small one? Or will my push/pull 212+ cover it?

Should I reapply thermal paste to the VRM's and north bridge?

Do you have to raise the multiplier for the north bridge to overclock? Or will it be fine at stock clocks?

Sorry for all the questions. Just trying to make sure I got this.

I will also toss my vote in for the M5A99FX - It has all of the same features that my new M5A97 R2.0 and I dropped the FX 8350 (actually mine is a few bucks cheaper - got mine from bitcoinstore.com for just over $100 USD)
