New Corsair TX650 fan spinning at full speed

Thread Starter
Ive just got a brand new TX650W PSU as an RMA from Corsair and for some reason the fan spins at full speed, and its quite noisy! Now, the PSU came with 2 adapters that my old one didnt have, they look like they plug into the motherboard, do these perhaps control fan speed? Here is a pic:

If this isnt the case then why would it be going full pelt?

those are just molex connectors for fans to be connect to the power supply. is it the powersupplies fan that is going full speed or your case fans?

What are you running in your system? the only reason is should be going 100% is if you are at 100% Power consumption

What 50shades said.

The only reason your PSU fan would be spinning that high is likely because it's at full load (as far as I know).

AMD Phenom II 1090T stock speed
8GB RAM
ZOTAX GTX 670 AMP Edition 2GB
3 case fans
Cooler master Hyper 212+ CPU heatsink
4 HDD's

As soon as I press the power button to turn the PC on the fan is at full speed. GPU and CPU are idling.

that is rather odd. resecuring all the wires to be sure that its not something simple like that. If it continues to run at 100% see if disconnecting things makes it go slower. If none of these work you may need to RMA it.weirdsmiley.gif

I unplugged all the wires and connected just my CD drive and did the paper clip test. It still ran fast...

Ive contacted Corsair anyway, the problem is I already paid £20 for the first RMA, if I have to send it back again thats £40, it would have been better just to buy a new PSU.
