I'm going to be playing on my 120hz monitor so it should work well I hope. I got two Windforce models.

First AMD cards but I'm happy the drivers seem more straightforward. Nvidia's naming scheme is annoying.

Also, are you using 4x MSAA and Post?

I am confused... I am looking into the R9280X-DC2T-3GD5, that is the exact model number, yet when I look at the 2 places I buy from:
Newegg.ca http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814121803
MemoryExpress.com http://www.memoryexpress.com/Products/MX48758

Newegg.ca's card is a 2 slot cooler and 1 DP, and Memoryexpress.com's is a 3 slot cooler and 4 DPs, yet they share the same product code.
What's going on here? Is the 3 slot cooler one 'better'? kookoo.gif

Different product codes.

R9280X-DC2T-3GD5 is the 2 slot.

R9280X-DC2T-3GD5 V2 is the 3 slot.

I haven't seen any reviews of the V2 so I know nothing about it. I recall seeing on a thread somewhere that the R9280X-DC2T-3GD5 is actually newer than the V2.

Ohh I totally didn't see that V2 as it went to the second line. Good call!
If the V2 is not the newer one, then that's some counter intuitive branding system alright. I'd want the one with the quieter cooler band.gif

I think what's going on is that the V2 uses the cooler from the 7970, while the R9280X-DC2T-3GD5 uses the cooler from the gtx 770 or 780. If you look closely at the pix, as a review noted, the cooler doesn't quite fit, it looks like a mod job. But all the reviews are of this 2 slot model and praise the cooler. You might look up reviews of the 3 slot asus 7970 for an idea of how the V2 cooler performs.

Btw there are also non TOP models of each that have lower clocks. R9280X-DC2-3GD5 and R9280X-DC2-3GD5 V2.

Eh? The manufacturers are swapping coolers around? cigar.gif

Then will the cooler from an ASUS directcuII 6970 fit an MSI R9 280X? The ASUS died not long ago.

Seriously considering selling off my 670 ftw and my spare 7950 to buy a 280x toxic.

Hoping to get a decent deal for cyber Monday, do you guys think this card is worth it? It's $350 right now. I could sell my current cards and pocket a bit of cash, all while gaining performance..

Can any owners provide some input?

REgrettably, my card isn't stable... so I guess I'll be returning it for one that is biggrin.gif

Newegg Issued my RMA + free return. Love teh egg. I have no clue what I'll be purchasing.... Think I'll sit back and see how the Graphic Wars 2 unfolds... Hopefully no artifacts while i wait biggrin.gif
