unfortunate that the msi 280x has such high temps, because it's the best looking card IMO. oh well if i get one of these it'll be asus then...

As far as i know it was only the TPU review that showed this situation. From other sites, i haven't seen any complaints about its cooling. I'm still trying to decide if the MSI would be a good purchase, as it would match my MSI G45 motherboard.

ASUS DCU II TOP seems to be everyone's favorite

Well no matter what drivers I try 13.10 or 13.11, still having issues with crossfire and the second card showing max under idle. Temps are still okay staying around 50 ish on second card, but driver support needs to be updated soon.

This is during a round of BF4 beta ultra settings 2560x1600:

Second GPU is on the left
First one on the right.

This is how the temps look even with the confused / jacked up drivers 13.11 beta drivers.

yeah but the guy in this thread showed his temps, they weren't that great... and seeing as i'm putting my cards in a case with little airflow i need cooler cards... DC2T just seems to be a better choice currently. i had a twin frozr 7850, it was great, temps never went above 60C while overclocked to 1050mhz, and all the reviews for the gtx 700 series twin frozrs had them being the coolest, but this 280x is at best average, at worst the worst cooled 280x...

and yeah i was also thinking about getting MSI graphics cards and a g45 or gd65 gaming mobo, a few months ago i was set on sli 760s, now crossfire 280x is looking like a much better deal, unless they drop the 4gb 760s to 250-260. or maybe i'll just get a 290x *shrugs*

Loving this card, blows my 6870 out of the water. Max temp with the DC2 after 3DMark/11/Vantage and some Farcry 3 was 74C with fan on auto (~35% or thereabouts, still very quiet).

Sorry guys for all the updates. But I am returning both cards in the morning. I just had my first card blow a cap while i was playing BF4. It was loud and I immediately shut the pc to figure out what had happened. Well took the first card out and I heard something rolling around.....yep found it.

Used to look like this:

Then like this:

Well looks like I will just wait for the 290x. If anyone sees a reduced price sticker on this model at frys in Houston beware. mad.gif

That same Techpowerup review also had an update at the bottom of his review saying that MSI sent him a bios update that fixed the issues (somewhat). Not sure if there's an official link for the bios update though.
