It's my first time going AMD, so I'm a little nervous. I'll be buying a card in December, after Mantle has launched too see if it's worth it for the performance increase. Also, hopefully by then they have Never Settle packages for the R9 series cards.

I'm running at 900p, so a 270X should last a while right?

Is it just me, or is there a distinct lack of reviews for the 270X when compared to other cards?

Well 270x is just a rebranded 7870...not really anything to talk about considering its been out for a while now. And don't worry a 270x with some overclocking will run any games out right now on max graphics @ 900p no problem.

I recognise 270x as a recommendable compared to HD7870. The memory specifications are selected according to operable latencies at higher frequencies, so I don't have any confusion when LANoc reports no benefit for memory overclocking.
Sapphire 270x Toxic is a great board, the next best they tested is Asus DirectCu 2 270x.
1-Asus DC Mini Gtx 670,
2-Sapphire T 270x,
3-MSI Gtx 760 H,
4-Asus DC 270x,
6-Nvidia Gtx 760,
7-Gigabyte WF 270x,
8-EVGA SC Gtx 760.

I am waiting for the 270x Devil which was announced recently. My second choice would be the 270x Hawk @ $220. If the Devil is too expensive the hawk it is.

Picked up an MSI 280x for crossfire with 7970, I can say that for this cooler you will need ample ventilation, currently had to give the card enough spacing to have a dual 140mm fans blowing on it.

The PCB is black much like any of the Gigabyte UD4 series, seems to be reference design when I looked at the PCB.

ASIC Quality: 65.8%
Current Overclock on air: 1200/1600 @ 1.231v 1.244v
Temperature @ Max Fan RPM: 60 to 61 degrees

GPUtool Artifact testing 15 minutes - 0 artifacts
Tested Stability: Metro Last Light 15 Runs Pass and BF3 Campaign 10-20mins. Will test in Multiplayer on Metro 64p for further stability testing Tested in 64p Metro

Very curious on how this would do on water, currently requires alot less volts then my 7970 to get to 1200. Although one of the fans is defective, squeaking or scratching much like a loud hard drive. Probably not enough silicone lubrication in the fan bearings at factory.

Max safe 24/7 is 1.3v.  Gotta keep the temps below 70c or it will start acting up on overclock.  These are temp sensitive

I wonder if temps increase resistance, so you need more voltage to compensate.

Just a thought.

I'm not thrilled about temps on my Asus DC2T 3GD5. Idles at 38c, which seems high.

In my one gaming session so far, Dead Island took temp to 75c. But I think something weird was going on, game froze, returned an error message about shadows, then unfroze, and temps dropped to low 60s. Load was high 90s. If mid 70s temp is what I'm going to get with this card, that's too high. I'll try some different games tomorrow.

Fans never went over 45%, and they're quiet, which was why I picked this model, so on that score, card is great. I can't hear the fans at 45% over my case fans.

Incidentally side fan on intake lowers temps by a few degrees. Haven't tried exhaust.

How much faster is a vapor-x r9 280x oc to 1170/1600 on gaming? I am not sure if its worth it to overclock it...
