It says it needs a minimum 750w psu which I have, will that be big enough to power the psu or do i have to buy a bigger psu, i see asus and gigabyte need much lower psus?

Yes that's good if it's anything close to a Corsair or Seasonic gold. The power draw is just a bit over 200w. I am drawing almost 290w with a 270x and a 7870 in X-Fire with a seasonic 660 platinum and a 125w TDP CPU and I am doing just fine. I don't know the brand but it should be OK.

Edit: I am not a power supply expert but I looked at the specs closer for your PSU and noticed that it has 4 12v rails. From what I hear 1 12v rail is much better for stable power delivery. It's something to think about.

Single V multi-rail setups make no difference, there are few excellent articles on this by JonnyGuru (excellent PSU source btw).
As for the intial question, even a quality (key word) 450w unit would be sufficient, if there are no plans to go CF down the road you won't need more than a good 500w unit.

How do you know if its one of the newer ones? Just interested, my 280x has exactly the same info in gpu-z. Oh and what asic quality is yours?

So its not amperage of the 12v rail but just the pure wattage of the psu?? Its a 750w psu gold and has a maximum output of 720 w with 18a on 4 multi rails, so that would be 60 amps?
No amperage still matters, I was saying that multi vs single rail doesn't (they're just two different ways to get the chicken cooked).

As said before your PSU will be more than enough for a 280X, you could go for a CF setup and be fine smile.gif

The first 280x released using gpu-z said Radeon 7970 on name and on released date it was Dec 2011 if i'm not mistaken, my asic quality? 67.2%, looks a bit low doesn't it?, but the gpu runs flawlessly for me, so i don't care thumb.gif

I just got this today, it runs pretty quiet(fan speed runs tops around 40-54% without tweaking), around 37c idle(I live in a tropical country), 60-62c load(Valley benchmark) and I'm seeing 55c'ish on normal gaming(Guild Wars 2).

Thanks for info. I want this card but some reviews were saying it's really noisy. Those temps are great. I live in a temperate region on the coast, with my Asus TOP I was getting 38-40c idle and 75c gaming load, in a system that idles at low 20s for cpu and mb. Some guy earlier was telling me I was delusional for wanting a stock overclocked 280x that runs in the 60s but it sounds like that's what you're getting.
