Some guy earlier was telling me I was delusional for wanting a stock overclocked 280x that runs in the 60s but it sounds like that's what you're getting.

At 100% fan speed the max my DC2T ever reaches is 63 with the core at 1220mhz @ 1.3v.

If you want those temps without fan speed/noise and without water, then I would say you are delusional.

You're not the first to tell me that, like I said. But that guy I quote is getting unbelievable temps at moderate fan speed. And there are reviews that report the thermal and acoustic performance I'm looking for.

Tom's Hardware has the HIS Turbo gaming in high 60s at 41.7dB.

Kitguru has the Vapor X gaming at 63c at 34.3dB. (Too good to be true, no?)

(Can't provide links, this post disappears every time I switch tabs on my ipad, reviews are easy to find.)

In any event I think the Asus TOP I returned was a bad performer, 40c idle and 75c gaming load in a cool system? That's not completely out of line with reviews but it's at the poorer end of the spectrum. Almost all the reviews report 30-32c idle. Though, gaming load seems a consistent 72-75c at 42% fan speed which is inaudible.

Edit to add, I'm talking about running stock not oc'd like you're doing. I was getting 40/75c at the stock 1070mHz 1.2v.

@taem

I can understand your desire for the best possible acoustics and temperatures. These cards aren't cheap and no one should keep a card they aren't satisfied with.

My card is an Iron Egg product so I don't have to commit to it until the end of January,

Are you going to go with a different brand? Let us know how the replacement is.

I always go iron egg for purchases like this, and I should have held on to my card a while.

At this point I think I've read every 280x review and I think the Asus TOP is the pick of the litter, so I might go back to it. Maybe I'll get one that's slightly cooler. The Vapor X is the only other one that interests me (sexy backplate!!) but most of the reviews put it at near 60dB at load, with kitguru being an outlier. But I think the stock fan curve ramps to 70% very quickly, maybe if I set it at under 50% I could get near TOP quietness without temps being too high? That's why I ask for info on the card from users. Iwish the custom 290s would come out soon so I can see if I want to go that route instead. I'm also limited by my case, Toxic and HIS are too long. Even the Asus forces me to rotate the hdd cage.

But, the Asus TOP is a really nice card, I dunno about whether seeking 60s temp is delusional, but looking for a better deal than this card might be.

Had a bit of a panic attack earlier lol

My Bios says that my 12v + rail is running at 12.24v

When i use the software hwmonitor it says 3.36v on the 12v+ rail

Is this just a software bug or is the Psu/graphics card going bad??

Maybe it's bad TIM application by the factory? I have a Powercolor 6950 with unlocked shaders that was running 90c onfull load but got down to 70-80's after reapplying the TIM.
