Hey everybody joining the club! I bought a Gigabyte Radeon R9 280X 3GB (GV-R928XOC-3GD) from Newegg and got it just today. I haven't tried any games with it yet. I was looking at the MSI Twin Frozr 280X (OUT OF STOCK ON NEWEGG!!) but I'm a fan of Gigabyte so I bought it instead. The design is identical to the Gigabyte 7970.

Ugh that blue pcb =/ Seriously, the exact same equivalent on the green team the 770 gigabyte windforce x3 looks so much better. Why do the custom parties always cheap out on the amd models

Indeed it is $100 cheaper, with lack of physx, higher temperatures/much higher power draw and a driver team about the 10th of the size of nvidia's. I still sent the 770 back to get the 280x and save the $100, but I am kind of regretting it as all the stuff I said is worth the $100 premium they ask for. Mantle better be worth it.

No wait ..........

the gtx 760 at $250, still a better looking black pcb that is better constructed than that one. Why do the third parties cheap out on making amd cards? =s

So there goes you $100 cheaper, and that is why they cheaped out on the looks argument.

$200 tops for a 2GB card.

and here is your driver team . . .

How does that change what you said about the price of a $300 card looking really cheap and having an awful pcb while the nvidia card of the same model/cooler at $50 cheaper is better built and has the better pcb?

Or are you basically trying misdirection.

P.S atleast the asus direct cuII top 280x looks amazing, ty for the picture will be the card I go for.

maybe. but your claim to having a bigger driver team does not translate to better drivers.

. . . Anything 306.97 works well for me. Just that for many 306.97 is known as the official last good driver for BF3.

I do play some DayZ and Deus Ex and get lower FPS. If I decide to give BF3 a two day break, I just uninstall 306.97 and install 314.07. I have probably installed and reinstalled at least 20 times this week alone lol.

from an owner.

so, you got a better looking card inside the case but can't play games. lol

Being an mmo hopper that plays alot of mmos in early alpha/beta's throughout the years, I can say nvidia are a much better experience. They get out beta drivers the day before beta's sometimes even go live or on the same day. While sometimes amd can't even get out a driver till the full game goes live, then you see about 100 forum posts popping up with amd related issues in the mmo beta forums.

I had a sapphire 6970 for over a year, and it wasn't a pleasant experience in beta's.
