I would only buy the 290 if I had the money for the card + a 3rd party cooler (and don't care about voiding the warranty) smile.gif

Speaking of third party coolers if you gpu water cooling but don't want to deal with the setup and maintenance of a custom loop, you can put a closed loop cpu aio on a videocard: http://us.hardware.info/news/37936/nzxt-kraken-g10-makes-all-in-one-compatible-with-gpu

Basically a bracket with a built in fan. It's cheap i think, like $30 msrp. Of course you have to buy the cpu cooler also... But an Accelerometer Hybrid III would cost as much.

I'm tempted to do this with a 290 reference but I'd feel like a fool if the DCU2 and Vapor X customs came out a week later.

3. which one draw more power in full load? toxic or 290?
4. if toxic not that worth, what 280x should i get instead? vapor-x or msi gaming? or even the cheaper HIS or powercolor?

thanks for the enlightment, before i'm using 760, already sold it this morning. looking for radeon card smile.gif

go with asus r9 280x dc2t. the best reviewed and quietest r9 280x

noise videos

http://www.hardocp.com/article/2013/10/07/asus_r9_280x_directcu_ii_top_video_card_review/8

"The DirectCU II heatsink and hybrid fan are a real winner on the ASUS R9 280X DC2T video card. It idles the lowest temperature and at full-load hits exactly what ASUS claimed it would. We saw it hit 74c and never exceeded this. It did so with a 42% fan speed. Therefore, the GPU was running cooler than the GTX 770 and Radeon HD 7970 GHz Edition. There was no fan noise, even during full-load. The cooling configuration is a success on the ASUS R9 280X DC2T. "

http://www.anandtech.com/show/7400/the-radeon-r9-280x-review-feat-asus-xfx/20

"As impressive as the XFX card was at idle, it doesn’t begin to compare to the Asus card under load. We have a card that’s channeling nearly 250W of heat out and away on a sustained basis, and yet for all of that work it generates just 41.5dB(A) of noise on our testbed. This is simply absurd in the most delightful fashion. Most of the cards in our data collection idle at just 2dB lower than this, never mind noise under load"

http://techreport.com/review/25466/amd-radeon-r9-280x-and-270x-graphics-cards/10

"Well, that massive cooler on the Asus R9 280X TOP card certainly pays off handsomely. The 280X produces the lowest noise levels under load—the same decibel level as several other cards at idle—and turns in the lowest GPU temperatures. That's the card that drew the highest wattage under load, no less. Tons of credit to Asus and the big hunk of metal it strapped on the card for making that happen."

So call me silly...but I returned my Asus DC2t and got a Toxic to replace it lol. The Asus couldn't do over 1150/1650mhz without either crashing or artifacting pretty bad, and considering it had to be my top card when paired with the Matrix, I just couldn't take it anymore. The Matrix is totally stable up to 1220/1800mhz and can play quite a few games up to 1240 without artifacts, so I figured I'd go for something that hopefully clocks better. It also looked like crap in my case, without a backplate and all, but I guess I'm just being picky now...rolleyes.gif

Oh yeah, if anyone cares...Sapphire Toxics are IN STOCK at Newegg thumb.gif

@raghu78

i can't take Asus, the price is silly in my place. it's even more expensive than 290, the difference between toxic and DC2T is about $100 in here, so ridiculous.

how about this... (forgive me for asking this in here), zotac GTX 770 AMP is in the same price as sapphire vapor-x which is under $400, should i get that instead? i've been asked to distro and all sapphire card is out of stock... frown.gif

For the Info... Zotac GTX 770 AMP is even $15 cheaper than MSI R9 280x gaming which is ready in here. so i think i will get this 770 amp, since people recomenned 280x over 770 because the price right? now how if the price is cheaper for 770 than 280x like in my place... it's very weird price concept here in Indonesia though... frown.gif

thats all about luck, my DC2T is solid at 1175/1700 and I'm not even touching the voltage. I can even do runs on unigine at 1200/1800 in without crashing/artifacting.
