Only because board partners are switching over to XLT so it's the remaining XT2 stock that's not being replenished. If you're not in a hurry you might want to wait, depending on what your priority is: I hear XT2 overclocks better, but XLT runs cooler and draws less power.

But, kudos to AMD for coming up with cards everyone wants, but failing to get it to market in time for Black Friday and cyber Monday. Watch them miss Christmas altogether and get production n order right after nvidia comes up with a plausible riposte. Who's running this company, microsoft?

This is the first I've heard of this. Have a link to a read up on the differences between them?

Hello everyone! With my new HIS R9 280X Turbo card I was able to get BF4 stable @1200/1760 with 1.293 vddc. Base voltage is 1.256. Quite high? Asic quality is 60.3% Not really happy of the oc but it seems run quite cool. GPU max temp was 66-68 with max oc and VRM 64°C.

Will a phenom 965 at 4ghz be enough to feed a 270x? Or will it be a massive bottlneck?

Also any eta on mantle I searched and found nothing.

I too think you will be fine, just know this, I don't know what kind of motherboard you have but if you get a FX 8 core I would make sure I had a 990 chipset. An 8+1+1 or 8+2 phase VRM's are almost a requirement for the 8150 or 8350 IMHO. I love my 270x but it is in RMA right now due to a defect in the silicon on the X-Fire connector causing me weird pink screens in games and bench's. Good thing I have a spare Devil. biggrin.gif

Ya that's the card I ordered. Can't wait to get the devil.

I have the gigabyte 990fx ud3 v.4 it has 8+2 I know I'll be ok. Strong board the last thing to upgrade is the cpu. Unless mantle does wonders.

Thats simply not true. 8 phase boards are not a requirement for FX 8 series chips just most ppl recommend them. I use a M5A97 EVO just fine with problems and its rock solid
