This happens every time there is a mining craze and there's a mining craze right now. There is a lot of Nv card stock because they are not desirable for mining, obviously.

*sigh* i was waiting to buy a second card until after black friday so i would have money to buy all the parts for my PC (ended up spending more because of black friday sales and stuff) and now they're all sold out and being price gouged... knew i should have bought 2 from amazon when they were in stock instead of 1... who knows when i'll be able to get another now (at a decent price anyway)

Duh, because the AMD cards are good for mining; nvidia arent.

You realize mining works about $15:1 revenue/power cost?

Your opinion doesn't change the fact that no one can get their hands on AMD cards without paying stupid amounts of money.

A 280x DC2T I bought last month for $300 just sold on ebay for $500 (I haven't sold mine).

Most people here are gamers, and it sucks for those who just want to buy a card and play.

Another Edit:
Thinking about trading my 280x for a gtx 780.

Ok so I just got my Vapor X 280x from Newegg. Here's the thing. This is clearly a return. Box seal was broken, the static bag wasn't sealed, the plastic covering over the shroud is all wrinkled, paper inserts bent, disc sleeve wrinkled, screw marks clearly visible on the tabs.

Is it Newegg's policy to sell returned items as new? I thought they were supposed to be sold as open box.

I have a call out to Newegg but it's an hour wait til callback. I suppose it's no biggie as long as the card works but I'm not thrilled about it. But if I return it who knows when I can get a new card, and at what price. I got this for the original $319, the card is $359 now. Can't decide what to do.
