I have a few observations and thoughts to share:

The Sapphire toxic is MUCH quieter than people give it credit for!!! I just sent back an Asus DC2T just a few days ago, and I don't agree with all the reviews stating how quiet it was. It may have been quieter than a matrix platinum, but the matrix is noisy as hell anyway!!! The toxic by comparison I feel is far less noisy than the DC2T, and even at full load is relatively pleasant and nowhere near as bad as the matrix.

Also, the toxic is long and narrow compared to both of the Asus cards. I stacked the toxic on top of the matrix in the third shot as you can see, and the matrix is about a good 3/4 of an inch wider although the toxic seems to be nearly a full inch longer overall.

Now for the bad. The ASIC quality of this toxic I just received was only 66%, and it doesn't clock very well either. The highest stable frequency I've gotten out of it so far is 1200/1650mhz, and anything higher than that it's starts artifacting pretty badly. It also seems to be stuck at 1.256 volts, and even when raised higher in afterburner and Trixxx, it stays put. The ASIC of my matrix by the way is 68%, so it's not much better but it can at least clock up to 1220/1800mhz stable.

The best version it's the Asus TOP CU... (no matrix version) with special "quiet" fan.
I've sended back my Toxic because the noise (and heat) it's very disturbing if you use heavily...
ASIC quality 63,4%.

I forgot about ASIC quality.

My R9 270X ASIC Quality is 83.6% Again, Sapphire Vapor-X edition.

Also, I was able to complete Unigine Valley at 1300/1500mhz 1.3v and scored 38.4 fps and 1565 pts. However, the card isn't stable in games at 1300mhz, so I dropped it to 1280mhz.

What voltages on the clock/mem?
I use Asus GPU tweak so only core voltage there, 1.3v (under load is 1.252v), MSI AB did not allow to change voltages.

I've been thinking of upgrading my CPU and motherboard to Haswell. I'm running a i5-2500k @ 4.8GHz now. Will i waste my money in doing that? I was thinking of waiting for mantle to see if that will solve some of the crap we have like microstutter etc etc.

Upgrading from Sandy Bridge to Ivy Bridge would essentially be the same as flushing your money down the toilet.

Your processor isn't the issue here.
