The stock BIOS was limited to 1.2v but they have an update on their site, the F12 BIOS, that brought it up to 1.256v.
The stock TIM was very thick, over applied and had scoring/burn like marks on it. I replaced it with some MX4. Go ahead and pull you cooler off and take a look. The design is total crap.
Something is seriously wrong with these Gigabyte cards on the hardware end. Everyone keeps having the heating issues and poor performance in benchmarks and mining bitcoins. I feel ripped off by it but know this is something Gigabyte will fix in time. I paid for an OC card and found I had to under clock it to make it perform.
Can you please send me modified BIOS so that I can test it too? As for the new BIOS I believe I tried to flash it but it was a no go, for some reason, can't remember the exact error code I received in atiflash but I came to conclusion that it was designed for different revision.

As for the TIM, I have some CF III that came with my SB-E, I believe that should do. What was the difference compared to stock in your case? I tried running witcher 2 with uber-sampling (or whatever its called) and got around 80 degrees with fan at around 45%.... can't call it wonderful, but its not the worst case. As for the settings I am running 1100@1.134V (see rig details), one thing that I am 100% happy with - is memory overclock, to my surprise I had no troubles going from stock 6Ghz to 7Ghz and thats with Elpida chips. I wasn't able to pass 3Dmark with anything above 1180 core clock which is quite disappointing. ASIC is 64.2%

I have minor issues while browsing on firefox, screens get corrupted for a fraction of second every few minutes, then quickly returns to normal. no problems anywhere else.

I have a DC2T 280x and use Firefox as my default browser. I haven't had that issue.

Maybe try using afterburner and disable power play support to prevent it from down clocking... see if that fixes your problem

Sent. Hope it works out for you. Going to play with it some more myself.

If there was a good supply of 290(x) custom cards, oh boy. I can get a reference 290 for 330 € with BF4. It feels a bit stupid to pay 275 € for a Asus 280x without BF4 then mad.gif

Those are stupid temps. Just, ridiculous. Does folding generate less heat than gaming? I had a DC2T, idled at those temps. You should overclock that b*stard to Denver.

I finally received my Kill-A-Watt, my system draws 90w to 100w at idle and 33w to 350w running Valley 1.0 overclocked to 1250/1400 on the 7870 and 4.7 Ghz on the 8350. I am going to assume when I get the R9 270x back from RMA it will add 200w or so to the load so my 660 platinum PSU should be fine. Maybe a max draw of 550w loading everything up. We will see when it gets back to me but it's good to know for sure I don't need a new PSU.

Edit: New Egg is out of my 270x Devil so I am not sure what will happen from here. Might get a Toxic (yellow - Yuck) or a Hawk if they can be found.

Devildog, the Sapphire Vapor-X 270X is excellent. The cooler is great and with 1.3v and 1280mhz I don't pass 55C in any games, including Crysis 3.

Folding at those clocks it doesn't even pass 50C.

Cool, I would have some $ left over for fans unless the prices went up.
