[Official] AMD R9 280X / 280 & 270X / 270 Owners Club - Page 258

exclamation.gifHi everyone, real quick again: exclamation.gif

Any R9 280X / 280 & 270X Owners like to become thread starter to this club?

Please let me know. Durvelle27 has stated he's no longer able to dedicate time to managing the OP due to other responsibilities and looking for replacement.

If we cannot find someone, the club will no longer have a members list but rather become solely an owners discussion thread. Which is actually fine as it's still provides a valuable thread for 280X / 280 & 270X owners to congregate and share their experiences, tweaks, over clocks etc....

Again let me know via PM and I'll be helping with the transition. smile.gif

4.7 here. 5.0 is not possible for me without a full loop. I can bench at 4.9 but it's not really stable.

No,but a backplate helps.

Thanks mate. I did a few tests now and so far the card is running fine in Crysis 3 with 1150/1700 @1.2v stock voltage. Pretty nice! Let's see if it can do BF4 smile.gif

I use mine 1150/1625 ( to get 6500MHz mem effective) stock voltage with no problems at all fan at 46% and it tops out around 53/54ºc insane card

I'm a bit confused whether or not I'm overclocking correctly, I'm using AMD Overdrive to bump up the frequency and Unigine Heaven to benchmark the modifications on my R9 270x. I bump up the core clock by 10 MHz after every "successful" benchmark in Heaven; which is set to DirectX 11, Ultra Quality, Extreme Tessellation, Stereoscopic 3D Disabled, Multi-monitor Disabled, Anti-Aliasing 8x, Fullscreen On at 1920x1080.

I'm assuming a "successful" overclock results with no artifacts, lock ups, or shutdowns? Of course, my card ain't the strongest out there so a slow, choppy run is to be expected at max settings in Heaven right?

I have a 270X, I might be able to help.

Unigine Heaven and Valley are bad benchmarks to test stability with. I can do 1300mhz in Valley and not crash or see artifacts for as long as I leave it running, but the card crashes almost immediately in any game.

Try OCCT GPU test with max ram (however much your card has), 7 for shader complexity and error checking on at 1080p in a window. You will have to set these options manually. If you see artifacts or it says there's any errors then it's not stable, lower clocks or increase voltage.

The best way to test if your card is stable is to play modern games on it for a few hours, but using OCCT will help you find your max clocks quickly. Once it's stable in OCCT (or alternatively Furmark) for a half hour it's probably good and you can run Valley or Heaven on it to make sure.

So 1) Run OCCT 2) Then run Valley 3) Test it in games.

The only way to know for sure that you're stable is to play games with it. If you don't see any artifacts and don't crash after a few hours of gaming, your card is probably set.

Ah I see, when I tried OCCT it wouldn't work properly when I turned on Error Checking. Without it it would run fine, but I will give another shot and check if my current settings are good. I managed to get it to 1170/1500 but will retest it to make sure.

Thanks!

EDIT:
Never mind, read the FAQ at the site.

I started bf4 campaign yesterday. Is it possible that there are still some graphical glitches in the game? When they appeared, I tried downclocking my card, which didn't help. Only reloading the checkpoint made them disappear. If so, bf4 still is a bad game to validate OC.
