You can run that at sustained 100% load with no artifacts? That's amazing.

wow amazing. Maybe my cards are screwed as my idle voltage is 1260.

I second that. All the newer 280x cards I have seen and owned had an asic around 60%. I guess that has to do with the revised xtl chip.

So the question is I'm running a Qnix Qx2710 on 96Hz. Should i overclock as I can get pretty close to 96fps in some games without the overclock? I overclocked my GTX570 sli, GTX280 single card with great success but not on this screen on an old 1080p screen. I only have experience with MSI cards and now that I'm running CLUB3d (got it for bargain) has no heatsinks on the memory only thing cooling them is the heatsink covering the whole card so a bit worry about temps there. I also tried 1200MHz but what I could remember is having some issues on 1.263v (stock voltage). Maybe these cards are just bad in general. Wish I bought the Sapphire toxic or so instead of these cards.

There are several factors why OCing your card may not be successful... One of which is that your board me be limiting you to OC your card Further... Second, insufficient power to the card (might want to increase voltage but be careful of the Card Temps). Third, you might be throttling your card or your OC setting is too high, start at the stock and go up bit by bit from there till you find your sweet spot. and lastly the card itself might already be Factory OCed too high that your OC headroom is very small (Like my Toxic). Most R9's are already Stock OCed so expect a bit of a challenge in making stable OCs. And remember all of them Cards might be of the same Brand and Label, but they dont always Overclock as high as the others. Artefacting and Black Screen are warning signs that your card is running at its limits, take a notch down so you wont damage your card further.

My personal opinion is that playing games beyond 60fps for me is more than enough and there is no point for me to push my card further unless im benchmarking my system, if your card is a low profile design one with no fans whatsoever, leave it at stock, however, if you plan to OC it, you might want to use some aftermarket cooling solution for the card. Again, make sure to monitor your GPU temps.

Could be, my card is XTL and the stock voltage is 1.15v

I have read extensively about the ASIC quality as it relates to performance and what I have gathered from that is it really only tells you what VID is needed to achieve stock clocks and not how far a chip can overclcock and only has to do with the GPU and not memory chip. Because a card has voltage leaking at stock may not mean when overclocking that it will stay that way. GPUZ has said that a lower ASIC requires a bit more Volts and a higher ASIC requires less but time after time in forums and responses from reviewers that has been proven wrong I.E. the card CyGnus uses. My cards are both over 78% but I don't feel they overclock better than say a Hawk or Toxic, maybe I will be proven wrong there as I have to small of a data base to confirm that but we will see.

My conclusion is that heat might be the only thing affected and that might not be very much due to the advances in non-ref cooling and W/C options.

This is just my opinion, you can take it for what it is. I am no engineer.
