Today I had a strange flicker for a split second. Was a vertical white bar while browsing the web. Hope it was a driver/software failure!

So I've noticed the price has been soaring for the 280x... Anyone think they know when it will come back down to ~$300 again?
Must go faster...

Nah,mostly if bitcoin crashes or scrypt mining gets non-profitable over all cryptos or ASIC miners come out.

Anyone else running the "XFX Radeon R9 280X 3GB (Tahiti XTL)" or have any usefull info about those cards? I plan to mine litecoins and other alt coins with 2 of those cards crossfired, and use my cpu to mine as well, a amd fx8350@5ghz and use 4 threads of the cpu for mining. Do you think i can make 1500khash/s? And arent the Tahiti XTL cards supposed to draw a little less watt then other r280 cards?
And how are those cards for mining primary litecoins? Are they good at that? Or should i combine and mine alt coins such as mooncoins, dogecoins etc? Im a complete noob when it comes to mining so it seems most simply for me to reg at multipool and strictly just go for litecoins straight to my wallet or? At least im thinking of doing that for the first month of mining, while i read up on different mining forums about alt coin mining and playing with the exchange rates and such. And is it worth to overclock these cards for more khash? I think ive read that oc them doesnt do much, that you rather want to undervolt them to make the cards last and be cool and that they hash better when cooler. But i think the cooler seems good on those cards, lets hope it functions as good as it looks!

First of all thanks for the reply... Actually im planning to make a dedicated mining rig in the coming months. can you give me your mining specs and your khash rate? the only problem i have with farming is that my temps ramp up to the 70s which has got me a little worried... ive read some GPUs mining go as high as 95 degrees(290x) and 80-85 degrees (280x and 270x). I have never gone up to above the 70s with my intensity setting 15-16 @ 460khash... as i push my worker beyond 18-20 (intensity level) Khash rate also dramatically increases but it ramps up my temps up to 80-85 degrees in just a matter of seconds. I have never stayed at the 80 degree marker for more than 30 minutes coz im afraid it my toast my system. is it really safe to push that far? any further advice you can give?

I'm running a water cooled 3770k i7 clocked to 4.7ghz with a Gigabyte z77 motherboard. 16GB ddr3 2133 g skill ram.
1000W PSU. Gigabyte 280x and HD 5770 video cards. I use my PC for everything, not just mining.

280x clocked at 1075mhz @ 1.076v hashing in the 750's kh/s memory is stock speed

5770 clocked at 900mhz @ 1.000v hashing at 215 kh/s memory stock speed

i7 puts out 50-60 kh/s with only 4 threads being used.

Temps in the 70s is fine. You start getting a lot of reject hashes in the 80s. I put an mk-26 on my 280x to keep the temp at 72c under full load. The windforce 3 had temps in the mid 80s all the time even with fans at 100%. I plan to get a 780 for daily use and games and get another 280x for mining with my current 280x. Pm me and we can talk more about mining.
