When I was considering it when the 290's were $400 and it would have made some sense, but now I have $440 into my cards that get at least close to the 290's performance wise. For another $120 or so I am not sure the gains would be worth it. At least not to me.
Actually there's about 5 non-reference 290w out right that I know of. OC'd a 290 would be a slight upgrade but nothing major

Is solo mining litecoin any good? It is more like playing the lottery, right? So joining a pool is required?

Yea, I see that Giga and MSI have some too, I really like my set up now. If I decide to start a new system some day, which I may, it will be completely different. Intel, gold and black, and full watercooling and maybe cross-fire 290's but if I do that it might take a year to build. I have to make the Wife crazy somehow.

If I do I will start with a Caselabs case and go from there.

He switched from a 4100 to a 6300, and upgraded to an R9 270x and he get's white screens and freezes in games. The motherboard had a beta bios so he flashed to the correct one, we tried a bunch of stuff, reinstalling drivers, turn off graphics overdrive, but I haven't heard back yet if it has worked. After a driver sweep and reinstall he might fair better. I think he is all at stock. Baffled me, I doubt it's memory but who knows.

Sadly nothing seemed to work i contacted the seller i got the card from and am getting a refund and will possibly go back to an nvidia card i put my old evga 460 v2 back in and no blue screens at all so must of been something fishy with the 270

look for the bios in here, and match this with your card later, if the last digit is still 331 (or 3XX) instead 435 then you need to update the bios, take it from HERE or you can go to official MSI forum to ask one, either way you will get the same BIOS, i DO try both bios and compare though, it is the same bios.

Thanks for replying. I actually bought a Sapphire 280X. As for the undervolting part, i use the pc for mining when i'm not at home or not gaming so i want to save some power.

Got another "problem" i could use help with. Can my HX750W support two Sapphire 280X OC cards (undervolted)? Rest of the rig in my signature (the cpu runs on stock voltage when mining).
