Thx

When it comes to gaming the 290 there is no comparison. The 512bit bus and 4GB of VRAM really helps when cranking up the AA in games. So far it can max almost all games 1080p were as the 7970/280X has to dial back on some settings and eye candy

was thinking of getting
Asrock B85 Pro4 + i5 4570
Asus R9 280X TOP with BF4
(and a Plextor M5Pro 128GB SSD to go along)

but seeing how the 290 offers so much more performance... I'm kinda changing my mind

my current monitor plays at 1680x1050
i'm thinking either of going with Dell U2412M to get some 1080P gaming or the Qnix for 1440P

1USD = 1.3 Singapore Dollars
Budget is $1000 (SGD) for CPU+Mobo+GFX

hopefully it appears now

thinking of upgrading my rig with the following...
Asrock B85 Pro4 + i5 4570
Asus R9 280X TOP with BF4
gonna install my new Plextor M5Pro 128GB SSD as well

currently gaming at 1680x1050 but thinking of upgrading to either
(1) Dell U2412M for 1080p gaming
(2) Qnix for 1440p

Budget for CPU+Mobo+GFX is $1000 Singapore Dollars
1USD = 1.3SGD

was thinking at $490... I should just pay a little more for a 290? idk

Honestly if I could do it all over again I would have gotten one or (well who are we kidding) two reference 290/290x (when the prices were MSRP) cards

I went with the 280x because a lot of people were saying the 290 reference was unstable/overheating and aftermarkets weren't out yet. Now a number of owners here are saying that's not the case if you don't mind the noise (I don't) of high fan speed and I'm smacking myself for going aftermarket because there are no full waterblocks for mine (Gigabyte Rev2)

And the cool factor is lacking compared to the Hawaii - AMD's latest and greatest

That said, my two 280x's do eat BF4 for breakfast so it's all moot for now biggrin.gif

I'm just glad I got my 280x when they were 299 cause if I'd have paid 410 for this card I don't think I'd be as happy with it... I want the prices to come back down so I can do a crossfire (which I doubt they will cause if they are selling them at that price and making 100 dollars more why not from the retail standpoint) still happy with it for the price I got it for...

Any ideas if I have to register my card at Asus to get the 3 years warranty? I think it was like that with evga.
