did you set a custom fan curve? maybe they kitguru used stock?

How are the temps? If they're nice 'n cool it may just be the fan profile being too aggressive?
GPU temp shows 74C Max and VRM 72C Max while playing BF3 for about an hour. Fan was at 2900-3100 rpm. At about 50% (2400rpm) it starts being really loud. I'll try a custom fan profile and see how it goes.
Hmm, the VRM temp seems pretty good but the GPU temp is indeed way higher than the reviews (and so the fan noise is as well, from trying to keep up). It could be a thermal paste issue? Does Sapphire allow removing the heatsink to re-apply the paste?
88C GPU while doing Furmark for like 1 minute, VRM temp went up to 99C, then i just stopped the test manually. Fan went on 3500rpm. HWiNFO64 shows me two VRM temps though, one was 85C, the other one 99C. Not sure if Sapphire really screwed up this VaporX model or bad contact between heatsink and GPU.
I think its your gpu. It would come up atleast in 1 review if it was for all the line. Plus were talking 2+ years cards here, they just put a new sticker over the 7970 ghz, no changes to the cooler.

That's what I was saying, the oc results will come under a 7950, so take that as your results tongue.gif
