I hate to bring this up, but ... I had initially ordered XFX 280Xs but returned them and got the Gigabytes after reading the XFX cards' vrms got too hot (the heat spreader on those is made of plastic) when in crossfire. That wasn't the 2.0 though, so it may not be an issue on yours

If the VRM temperatures are OK I would check Windows Event Viewer for any interesting errors and investigate those

VRM temps are 40-50c as far as I can see in GPUZ.

Gonna boot BF4 on this Mr Slowly card now and see temps and also framerate.

Quite a massive difference, is it supposed to be like this? Me think not!

Why does it say (2x) on the top one when the bridge isnt even connected?

you need to oc your i5. my thuban gets a higher physics score than that at 4GHz. you are bottlenecking your gpu big time.

CPU is at stock.

And overclocking CPU doesnt fix the redscreen when booting BF4, or grey screen when quitting games in crossfire.

Or the inconsistent performance between the two cards.

I benched Bioshock Infinite, and the results are +/- 1-5 fps.
I guess the cards are both fine?

But 3dmark11 disagrees with that, as #2 managed to halve the score of #1.. lol

If youre just gonna troll, go away.

It doesnt bottleneck, even at stock I had 120fps in the little multiplayer gameplay I actually got out of these two together, in BF4 on Ultra, 4x MSAA.

I believe I have found the problem.

120hz + 60hz in dual monitor on AMD cards is apparently no go.

So I have to stick with 60hz on both? Really...

If I run both at 60hz, no problems with xfire.

If I run main monitor at 120hz and the other at 60hz, problems. Seems the cards cant sync the refreshrates so it goes alzheimers and dont know what to do!?

When I run main at 120 and the other at 60, the 60hz monitor has a strange lag like effect and increased ghosting.
If I run both at 60 the other monitor has no lag or ghosting.

Video example of refreshrate issue running xfire with dualmonitor, both at 60hz.

At 60hz, bF4 works.
At 120+60 BF4 redscreens and other games (on exit mostly) greyscreen and pc reboots.

It seems that AMD cannot handle a refreshrate above 60hz in BF4.

Totally academic I know, but just in case anyone wants to see a nearly clock for clock comparison between a cream of the crop R9-280x and a Gtx 780, here's some Firestrike scores I pulled. The 280x is a Matrix Platinum clocked at 1275 core/1750 mem and the 780 is an Msi Lightning at 1164 core boosting to 1280 and 1652 mem. The Matrix was pretty much maxed out and was essentially a suicide run as it was pretty unstable, but the Lightning has quite a bit more headroom and can easily be pushed over 1300 core. Both are still using stock air coolers and the system specs are the same, which are in my sig.

No you can't run a 120hz and 60hz screen together........I hate to say it but it seems you did little to no research about these cards before you bought them.

Is the issue exclusive to X-fire? Or also with a single card? I've got a HD 6870 atm with no problems.

Tbh i'm not 100% sure, I've always stuck to the RRR Rule with multiple screens, Keep the Resolution and Refresh Rate the same across the board........makes life much simpler.

If i ever upgrade my monitors then i'm replacing both of them.
