I have no idea. The Gigabyte site does say the board is supported for both 2 way XFire and SLI.

The only thing I can think of is:

Making sure your drivers for both your Mobo and AMD Catalyst are up to date.
http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=4483#dl
http://support.amd.com/en-us/download

Also checking the Bios for the Mobo could be a good idea too.

I am assuming you are using the same two cards (Sapphire, XFX, ASUS and so on). If you just bought a new 280X to crossfire with your old 7970 you need to make sure that your 7970 is in the top slot as that governs the crossfire and you need to overclock/underclock the new 280x to the same clocks for it to work.

Can you let us know what drivers you are using and the card setup?

I just used quick dry enamel spray paint, isopropyl alcohol to remove fingerprint oils and so forth before painting my cards and RAM heat spreaders.

Check out this Youtube vid for Tek Syndicate that gave me the ideas in the first place. They are painting a plastic cover, but the method will still be the same.

i installed driver with 1 card, R9 280X Turbo Duo OC.

#1 it only works with both BIOS switches both on 2, when they were on 1 the had all sorts of Errors and Crashes. now the Crossfire cable has to have J1A on the top also. did not work with IOMMU on in BIOS.

#2 added 2nd card after a clean driver installation that worked on the single card.

#3Re- Booted, Booyah.

my MOBO Bios had to be Current... was running ASRock 990FX FATL1TY Pro 2.0beta, Now running 2.0 final....

took alot of combo's of failures to figure this out ...

also tried windows 8.1... helped with the clean instal cause my windows 7 was tweaked to the bone, all sorts of Dirty folders and stuff... a fresh win 7 might work.

BF4 worked Perfect 1st try.... i was getting 45/60 FPS with 2 7970's so win 8 might have helped. + UEFI cards wont work all the way with win 7 .

my FPS at ULTRA 1080 is 95/130

4xaa
network smoothing 0
Framepacing off

I heard that the new MSI lightning had an issue like that and they switch to bios #2 (LN2) and it worked, After that they were able to switch back to bios #1 and it worked fine there too.

is 1 stock bios and 2 OC bios on a OC card? cause mine show up as Boosted state in CCC or GPUz with out changing nothing.

Got the name fixed. I love the white, it's time to do a hide the PSU mod.

Running Valley or any other program the clocks and voltages will go up and down depending on load. It's normal for readings to have peaks and Valleys like that, you will see it on bench's and during games as the card will only run as fast and hard as asked. Having said that if you have Trixx and Afterburner both installed at the same time there may be conflicts there from the system info that both programs are running plus the system info on the CCC, Unigen and Futuremark. All of these programs detect hardware in there own way and may be causing conflicts.

Roaches

You may have just had a bit of burn -in time on the GPU/Thermal paste or something like that. If you don't mind a bit of noise turn up the fan profile to keep them as cool as possible, it can't hurt.

Neurotix

I used ceramic infused engine paint but any paint that's good for plastic should work.

I know that some benches the clock will fluctuate, like 3dmark. But valley should pin the card at maxx. And it does when I take trixx out of the equation. Even running trixx alone the clocks seem to bounce as the score sucks. Lame because I can't change voltage without trixx. Oh well though they appear to be stable at 1100 with power limit at %20. Which is good enough for me.
