Interesting find between the Default and OC bios on that card.. Unlocked voltage but the oc bios also gets hotter even on reference clock and voltage.. Very interesting indeed, still looks sexy. tongue.gif

I bit the bullet and bought the XFX R9 280x, couldn't handle the stuttering with my GTX 570.

I don't live in the US and I am not seeing the value in the TOXIC or the MATRIX over the lesser non-oc versions. For example. the Dual X Sapphire is $375, the DCU2 $395 and the VaporX for $410. In comparison the MATRIX is $470 and the TOXIC $430. Obviously you probably think these prices are crazy but stuff in Australia is always more than in america (a 7970 after price drops starts at $360 for non GHZ edition, 7950 for $290).

To me the 280x for more than $400 just doesn't make sense as if I spend another $100 on top of a MATRIX 280x I could get two 7950's :S

I don't think so, I've just set it to 1250mV from 1200mV (stock) in MSI Afterburner.

Received my very hard to find 280x Toxic today. Running 1200 Core 1800 memory in CCC (Stock voltages). The Hynix memory on the toxic is great. I will add volts after the card runs in for a day or two.

I heard in a review that the Toxic is voltage locked, is that true?
