I'm willing to do it again for you after I finish work if you like?

Though I can only use one card for the minute as my second card has a lot of air bubbles inside the block, so it's not being powered.

Yeah I'm underwater.

It's not maxed out at 1.2v anymore. I found a Gigabyte (my brand of 280x) Bios that allows up to 1.3v.
Doesn't seem like it makes any difference to being able to go above 1150 on the core though. Even with Power Limit set to 20.
Oh well. Better than nothing. and at least at 1150 the voltage isn't that high.

That would be nice if it's not too much to ask. I also did not realize you had two cards but running it with one would be fine. It never occurred to me to checkout other scores and see if my own results were ok. I've only compared with my own results from my everyday 1200/1666 to my max 1270/1840 when I benched my card back on 13.12 drivers.

Not a problem mate.
You shouldn't really compare with other peoples. As everyone has different cards and some are more lucky than others, but it's a good way to check.
You are right to compare vs your own scores.

Though when I was running my 7950 with one of the 280x, sometimes the scores are higher, so there's a factor somewhere that changes things around.

Might be so. Also: both the gaming and hawk card come with a bios switch on the card with the second bios being optimised for LN2 cooling. I suspect the ln2 bios allows for more voltage, you just have to find a way to get it up higher by software but most programs only allow around 1.3V. So in the end i think that the special bios + upping the voltage slider in both programs allow me to go up to 1.4V. Seems like the only logical conclusion i can draw for now as i don't know what else can explain me getting the card up that high. If you want i could make a copy of the LN2 bios and upload it here, just not sure if cards made by other manufacturers would accept the msi signed bios.

I'll give the flash a shot to see what happens.

Are you able to get 1400 on a single slider? Or you just move both programs to 1300 and you end up with 1.4V?

I didn't test the card under load last night after I couldn't exceed 1320 on the slider; plus I was doing BD rips and didn't want any crashes. I'll try after work and see if under load it exceeds 1.3V

Hey guys,
I am planning on buying a R9 280X. However I am gonna put a NZXT Kraken G10 on it for better performance so I was looking for the cheapest card with reference design. Now the cheapest reference card I could find is the Club 3D R9 280X RoyalQueen edition. But I wonder if you can get the same performance as in a RoyalKing edition by overclocking. Does the RoyalKing clock better then the RoyalQueen when they use the same cooler or is the only difference the factory overclock?

Thanks in advance

It can certainly help your performance. Someone started talking about cryptocurrency mining which can be very sensitive to RAM speeds.

For gaming, generally speaking, an OC on the RAM is going to increase your performance. For these AMD cards it is still most important to get as much out of the core speeds first, then worry about the memory.

When you get to the point of finding the peak/threshold for RAM clocks, you may see a small decrease in performance if you push a little too far. Backing down the clocks slightly at that point will probably give you your best performance.
