Hi everyone. I have a question for 270X owners: What is the max voltage that you recomend for this card? Im using 1.3V for 1350/1600MHz 3DMark11 and 1340/1600MHz Fire Strike Extreme.

My card is a Sapphire R9 270X Toxic. Thank you and sorry for my english!

it happened since the 14.1 drivers and I'm on windows 8.1

For most 1.3 is about it but the Toxic could probably go a bit higher if you can keep it cool enough.

Can someone guide me as to how to overclock my R9-280x. I'm at stock 1.263V 1100MHz and 1500mhz memory. I really want to overclock this card but don't know if I should increase voltage or what. I tried increasing clock speeds with power limiter and some voltage but I get crashes and freezes in my games.

My card is club3d royalking r9-280x. I think my card might not even overclock that well. I'm using MSI afterburner to overclock my card. Temps on BF4 = 72C on a aggresive fan profile.

Since it is Z87 it probably isn't very old, likely under a year, and every time I had the PCIe quit on me it was within the first 12 months.  I have purchased 3 in the last 5 years; which I have had to RMA 4 times.  I first chose ASRock as they were a subsidiary of ASUS, but they have since broken away and now are their own standalone company.

I'm  not saying it will fail, but for 3 different motherboards, which all had the PCIe slot fail, while using different GPUs in each scenario, is not a good track record.  I would not be negative if the RMAs weren't so aggravating these days.  The service for my first 2 RMAs was so excellent that I almost didn't mind the hardware failure because it was fast and easy.  The latter 2 RMAs for Extreme6 and ITX board were a nightmare, and a far cry from the service I received the first 2 times.

I am still using an ASRock board in the machine I'm typing away at now.  I may consider their products in the future, but I wouldn't do so without purchasing them at my local MicroCenter with a walk-in warranty to bypass the RMA procedure.

The purpose of my post was to point out issues I have had with ASRock PCIe slots, since MicroKid is having a horrible time with pinpointing his problem.

Warning: ASUS *thumbs down* (Click to show)

So you don't think I am just an ASRock hater, I will now tell you of my disgust for ASUS

I needed to RMA a board because I damaged it, and apparently ASUS didn't want my money because I couldn't get them to repair the board and take my money.  ASUS tech/customer support & RMA process is the worst thing I have ever experienced in my life.  According to ASUS tech support, a PCIe slot is not on, nor is it part of, the motherboard.  They angered me to the point of selling/disposing of nearly every ASUS product that I own.  I sold my: K55A Ivy Bridge i5 laptop, eeePC 1215P Atom N550 netbook, RT-N56U Router, (2) external disc drives, and my Z77M-PRO motherboard for parts because I couldn't get customer pay RMA approval;  Still have a GT640 GPU and a bluetooth dongle to dump.  I will likely be keeping my Z87 Gryphon until the MicroCenter warranty expires in ~2 years.  I won't ever be purchasing, or recommending, anything from ASUS again.

Wow that is way to much voltage for that little bit of an over clock.
I have 2 XFX r9 270x DD's overclocked to same settings as you but only use 1.25v max and 0.875 while stock.
If you are planning on keeping those volts then you should have some good cooling maybe even water and bump up the speeds a tad more.

I think its really luck of the draw when it comes to mainboards, i have had an asus and a gigabyte board blow up on me just from turning them on. Never had an asrock board fail on me yet to be honest, even my z77 extreme 6 ran perfectly
