Very close to buying an ASUS R9 280x DCUII TOP, hearing that they may need BIOS flashing to unlock core volts. Could someone please give me a quick 'tutorial', on how to save and flash the BIOS, as i've never done it before.

Ta.

Using Afterburner with my 280x Toxic. GOOD NEWS! TOXIC HAS CORE VOLTAGE CONTROL. With Afterburner beta 14. Voltage control up to 1.3V. Memory voltage control is available to adjust but does not operate properly. My sweet spot seems to be 1200 core 1850 Memory at 1.263V.

Temps are in the mid 70's running Valley bench at 1440P. This card has the best memory overclock I have ever benched. Keep in mind this is stock voltage of 1.6V. 7400 Effective thumb.gif

Undervoltage it, you won't be able to run benchmarks. I'm wondering if this is actually afterburner glitch or what because my temp rises as I OC my cards. GPU tweak and afterburner are also both reading my gpu load and fan speed all wrong also. it's weird.

My temp doesn't rise as I raise the voltage. So nothing is happening.

Weird. IF you are using afterburner, go to the folder, goto msiafterburner.cfg and try putting
UnofficialOverclockingMode value to 1.

I had to do that for my 580gtx quite a while back.

edit: For me I only have issues when crossfiring cards, but only the readings are wrong.

The HIS Turbo is $45 cheaper than the asus here in New Zealand, please keep us all updated in your adventures with the card, I'm tempted to pull the trigger.

The cooling is good like the reviews said. I just can't find a tool that changes the voltage like it says.

Just bought an MSI R9 270x last week as an upgrade to an HD 6950. Card ran really well, but decided I should upgrade as far as I could afford to right now.

I returned that card to Fry's for an MSI R9 280x, only to get it home and find it DOA!

Another 70 mile round-trip back to Fry's, and they exchanged it for the last MSI 280x in stock.

This one boots up and runs fine, however I noticed that it is reporting as a 7970 in both GPUz and the driver! The clocks are at 1020 / 1500

Has anyone else seen this?

I realize the 280x is just a rebrand, but now my BIOS is even the same......

I have always liked HIS cards, the 7950 iceq looked like an amazing overclocker, but that blue pcb, and only one dvi port? I'm struggling between the HIS, the VAPOR X, and the Asus
