Which is how I know it's being changed.

He's right, it also shows the change in Hwmonitor, just in Kombustor it stays at 1.22 for me

from my experience they tend to overheat. I had the GTX 460 Cyclone from MSI which was ok but the GTX 570 Twinfrozr 2 was terrible.

Hey there, i've been messing around with trixx utility and my vapor x 280x. I've been testing different core clock and memory settings. To test for stability i ran furmark burn in test and also unigine heaven and valley benchmarks without artifacts. I also found in google a tool called OCCT to check for errors on the gpu and i get errors when i run its test. The question is, how reliable is this test? since i'm not seeing artifacts or stability problems with the other tests.

Edit: i adjusted the voltage to 1.3 and so far haven't gotten any more errors on OCCT. By the way, i can now confirm the Sapphire 280x Vapor X has its voltage unlocked.thumb.gif

I think it's from the Twin Frozr 3 that they've really improved. The Twin Frozr 2 was also meant to have issues with fans dying so it wasn't a great cooler and I made sure I got the 3 when I bought my 570. I'm sure there's been some twin frozr cards that have had problems no matter which version was used but you'll get that with all different types of cooler. People go on about how good the ASUS DirectCU is as well but you'll also find many people who say it's crap because on the card they had it didn't work well. apparently they are better on nvidia cards than AMD cards as well.

I suppose it depends on if that article saying it will be rolled out in a few weeks time is to be trusted or not.

I have no idea why but I was sure it was the 770 MSI Gaming edition card that was badly designed and had heat issues.
Turns out it's the 280X Gaming Edition that I'd read about.

Temperatures during gaming are kind of high. We measured these temperatures with an actual game, not a stress test. The card will not go beyond 80°C when a stress test (not even Furmark) is used, because it throttles as the voltage regulator circuitry gets too hot.

It was a BIOS issue apparently and got fixed. Still it's going to put a lot of people off buying it, seems pretty careless by MSI if it was a widespread issue effecting all of them. Apparently though the cards are sent to the reviewers from AMD themselves and not the AIB partners so MSI wouldn't have been able to check that sample themselves before the review site were sent it. Maybe this is the reason it's one of the cheapest 280x cards, as in MSI put their msrp down to get people to buy them still after the heat issues were discovered?
