Hi all,

Just wondering if you guys can help me with the above similar issue that i am experiencing.

This is my rig.

i5 - 4670
ASUS H87 ITX
8 GB Ram
Gigabyte R9 280x Winforce OC
CM 725w PSU

I am on the latest BETA 7 AMD driver.

When i play Borderlands 2 on high, i do not get any problems. However if i start to play BF3, i will get the above gray screen issue.
BF3 was on high settings.

Yesterday was launch of BF4 so i went to try it out and after every 10 - 15 mins, the game will freeze/hang and i will have to end task to eliminate the game.
BF4 was on high settings.

Not sure what is the issue as this card should be able to play BF3 or 4 on ultra.

Gigabyte card is voltage locked and factory standard, never change anything.
Core 1100 / Memory 1500 / Voltage 1.256v

My friend on SAPPHIRE R9 280x is also experiencing the same issue.

Thank you Thank you!

Hi Welcome to OCN with your second post.

Your memory is too high to be on stock air cooling. Lower that to 1300 Memory and your 1100 Core clock should be fine. Try that first.

EDIT _ just realized I thought you had a different GPU. Still it can be your over clock too high. Lower it and see if that does the trick. Then incrementally go higher if you like to find your stable point.

Thanks Arizonian, not sure where else to go to get some help haha.

Just want to highlight that i did not overclock the card though ... it came with 1100/1500/1.256 frown.gif

I will try to lower is to 1300 and have a go.

Thanks!

I personally wouldn't reduce it. If it come saying it was to run at such speeds it better dam be doing so or otherwise its going right back to the store. Just me thou. Having problems overclocking okay but if even at stock is giving you troubles I wouldn't bother with it.

Don't quite understand though why the problem is occuring only with Battlefield 3 and 4. Borderlands 2 was fine the 2 hours plus that i played.

Also, i have the GIGABYTE Winforce edition. My mate with the Sapphire Vapor X edition is also having the same issue!

Not sure the problem is with the card or with the game ... anybody else experiencing this?

I apologize because this thread and the other 290X / 290 club thread look so similar and didn't see you said 280X redface.gif

If it's doing it stock then there is an issue with the game itself. Try turning down game settings and see if that eliminates it. Might be too much for your card. Let us know if that worked or not.

Will give it a go tonight and see how it goes.
Pretty sure R280X can run BF3/4 on high settings, should not be an issue.

Update again later smile.gif Thanks for all the help!

No CCC untill this point. But after installing 13.11 beta 7 driver and restarting my pc i keep getting a black screen after the windows loading screen. Can anyone help ? If i then let the driver cleaner run after booting into save mode and restart my pc again i can see my desktop and everything works.

some additional information on my system:
2500k
MSI Z77a GD65 with newest bios
8gb 1600hz ram
120 gb OCZ vertex 4 ssd
750w OCZ psu

I had the same issue with 13.10 beta driver . It would go to black screen immediately after login and only way to get to desktop is in safe mode.
I had to reinstall OS on my 60gb ssd and currently my 128gb Samsung pro seems to have been formatted, I'm still trying to recover the data, some programs see the data others don't.
Anyone with testdisk experience ova hier??

Just found out that windoes completey crashed after the loading screen. So not only black screen, but also windows crash. The only way to turn the pc off now is to press the power button 5 sec.
