You're doing something wrong. Corrupted system or unstable card, who knows.

I have the same problem with driver crashes using windows 10, R9 270x and the crimson driver. It can happen playing pretty much any game. It's even crashed while I’ve been playing age of empires 3, which is hardly graphics intensive.

i dont think its faulty, i bought it from a friend, pulled from a gaming pc i use to use with him, system cant be corrupted since i have been doing fresh installs, and how come only happens with Crimsoms ? i tried 12.9, 13.12, 14.9 and with this drivers never crash games ... also i put my card into a stress for 1h and nothing happens ... im pretty sure its not hardware related

Actually, thinking about it, I've never had a crash while playing skyrim and thats a pretty graphic intensive game..
Anyway, it's not a hardware problem. I use dual boot with linux and i've never had a driver crash playing a game on linux - even with graphic intensive games like metro last light. So it must be a windows driver bug.
Googling a bit, it seems like this windows setting may be the issue.

What about browser hardware acceleration and such stuff, I've seen this linked to strange Windows reporting driver crash. Unfortunately from what I know and have seen it's more of a combination than a single cause of the problem.

After some thought, I decided to not upgrade to the RX 480. I thought 30-40% more performance isn't worth spending that much money for, instead, I'll upgrade to anything that's around the same price, but at least 70-80% faster. Besides, my GPU runs all my games decent enough!

So, in light of me postponing the upgrade, anything I can do to extract more performance out this card? My core is OC to 1125 MHz, and anything higher will result in artifacts at least in some games. My temps are okay around 65-70 C depending on ambient. I previously tried to OC the VRAM to 1600 (from stock 1500 MHz) but it got too hot and there were some texture glitches in GTA V. Any tips for better OCing?

I upgraded to the 480 from a 280x and I am way happy I did. Wait until the AIB models come out, and reconsider.

Whats your card and voltage? (on mobile can't see it) things you can do

Aftermarket cooler
Raise voltage
Drop memory speed and focus on core first

Your main concern is core, with good vrm cooling you can do 1.3v on air daily just fine. First keep your memory at stock and start bumping core till you get artifacts then back off till you don't. I bump in 25mhz then back in 10mhz till stable. You might consider a better cooler even if you have an AIB cooler. Make sure to get the best heatsink you can on the vrms.

This would be pretty good but you will need to get extra sink for vrms and memory

For the best fit make sure you have a dremel so you can trim the heatsinks that don't come with the kit. Get the biggest heatsink you can fit within reason on the vrms and don't be afraid to push 1.3v, avoided higher unless you do full block water

Forget changing your AIB cooler, worthless to do so unless you have some truly crappy AIB cooler. Save the cash and get 14/16nm GPU.
