Different territories have different "sales periods". US is tuesday to tuesday, UK is thursday to thirsday etc.

Idea being, they want to release it at the start of a sales period to maximise sales to get a high placement on the sales charts to in turn drive more sales.

Dunno about JPN/AUS though.

So what's the consensus for the best OCer 280x with best mem (hynix?)

I realize there is lots of variation, but overall what is looking like the better cards all things considered.

Well the sapphire Toxic is the highest clocked with the biggest cooler and gets close to a 780 on some benches. So if you want a guaranteed high clock then that I guess, the Asus Matrix also has a cooler equipped for fairly high overclocking. I know the Asus DirectCU II uses Hynix memory, don't know which others do.

To all those that are experiencing artifacting at stock clocks in all games, try these steps:

1. Bump memory clocks down to 1300mhz.
2. Test for artifacts.
3. If you still get artifacts, then you should return the card as the memory is bad.
4. If you don't get artifacts, bump memory voltage and memory clocks by 50 until you get back to stock memory clock.

Okay. I like the ASUS direct CUII the best there. The toxic is so pricey, doesn't seem worth the extra coin for only a bit more Mhz. Good answer. Thanks man! +1 to you.

Here are the pictures of my rig with the Sapphire 280x Vapor X installed. Do you think a Core clock of 1150 mhz and a memory clock of 6400 mhz is ok? so far i haven't ventured more into overclocking

@The two GW2 players,

Have either of you tried other drivers ? I'm asking because I know drivers can make a difference sometimes when overclocking so I guess they could very well cause artifacting to when your cards are in fact in no way faulty. And you have to keep in mind these drivers are Beta drivers.

Last night I had Beta 2 installed. Uninstalled BETA 2. Rebooted safemode then used driver fusion then rebooted once more and installed BETA 7. I'll see if it happens again. I doubt it's a faulty card... It's probably guild wars 2.

Nope. Counter-strike GO is fine. Bioshock Infinite - Ok. TF2 - Ok.

Stock Clocks btw.
