IMO this case should have been what the RV03 was. from the design, I feel it's a worthy successor to the RV02. the removal of 5.25 bays is NOT as big of a deal as most people would like to think. i have NOT installed an internal optical drive in ANY of the machines i built for WELL over a decade now... the ONLY reason people actually USE 5.25 bays these days are fan controllers or maybe a bay res for their liquid system. if an optical bay is THAT important to someone, it does look like there is provision for slim optical bay mounted in a vertical orientation on the lower right hand side of the case(similar to the FT03 mini). and HDD bays (directly below the PSU mount) appears to be limited to 2 hot swap trays. but that's also of little concern considering most respectable builds these only consist of a SSD and a 4tb storage HDD anyway.
the only thing that concerns me is if provision for 2x180mm radiators was factored into the design. it appears to be "tight" down by the intake fans and i'm not sure if there is enough room for the radiator to fit. even if you do manage to put the radiator in there, it would mean sacrificing the already limited HDD bays under the PSU so that would mean you are only limited to 2.5 inch drives.
i am VERY glad to see the raven returning to its roots. it's good indication that the fortress may be returning to it's rightful direction of development as well. however I feel the FT05 should take another departure from sharing the same chassis as the RV05 and simply improve upon the already legendary FT02 design.
my "personal" vision for the FT05 is actually similar to the RV05 however in a more "cubic" shape. following the "trash can" concept of the FT03, the FT05 would be the larger brother to the FT03. hosing full HPTX mobo in the same orientation as the FT02, HOWEVER the PSU, HDD cage, AND the 5.25 bays would be relocated to BEHIND the mobo tray giving it the "square shape" similar to the FT03 but a larger sibling. essentially doubling the width but almost halving the depth of the current FT02 design. maybe one of these days i'll learn to use sketchup and actually make it rough draft of what it looks like and build it myself
it would have provision for the phobya 1080 radiator (4x180mm fan in a 2x2 orientation) to be mounted internally for those aquanauts that detest landlubbers.
the overall look would be similar to that of a caselab magnum M10 but with rotated mobo mount design as well as provision for 1080 radiator at the bottom with 4x180mm filtered intake fan at the bottom of the case.
IMO THAT would be the true flagship product that silverstone needs to compete with the ever growing competition. (especially considering coolermaster is starting to eyeball the high end market with very hungry eyes
