OP, ignore everything in this thread so far (no offense guise redface.gif) )

download PS3 Media Server http://www.ps3mediaserver.org/

run it on your PC, set your libraries/directories/folders to stream from. on the xbox dashboard shortcut menu, go to the "Media" Tab and under "System Video Player" you should see the PS3 media server,

for .mkv files go to the # TRANSCODE # directory..

Get a mediaplayer that has wifi, then simply browse the shared folders of your pc.
They cost around $60 to $100 depending on the brand and features.
Asus, Western Digital, and Kworld are some of the brands.

i use the WDTV Live box, you can network it, or use like a large capacity USB drive.
roku, wd live, or any other media player device will cost money. OP already owns an xbox. there is no need to buy anything. PS3 Media Server is free and works perfectly

Like the idea of having a HTPC on my HDTV.

I really like the look of Plex and the functionality it seems to offer.

Thank you all for the very good information and help.

I'm going to give these three a shot being that I have most of the hardware for each of them already.

I really can't thank you all enough.

Hopefully after a fun weekend of work on this I'll update you all with which one I liked the best.
