Micro ATX (Sniper M5) in a Corsair 700/800D ...how bad would it look?

Hey guys,

Decided to upgrade to Haswell from my current build (signature) and I'd really like to get another Sniper motherboard because I absolutely loved the one I have. I just don't really think (anymore) a motherboard is worth 380$ so I would like to get a Gigabyte Sniper M5. It has all the functionality I'd like, but I have no Idea if it would look any good in a big case like the 700D because it's Micro-ATX.

I couldn't find any pictures of anyone with a micro ATX board in such a big case lol.

How bad would it look?

Meh, I personally think it would look stupid but others would say it looks fine.

*EDIT*

Here is a video of a fully watercooled one

I kinda hate the idea of a mATX board with a case which has 7 PCI slots at the back...
there is too much space which looks wasted which makes it look bad imo.
perhaps get a full black Z87 board if you want to keep the case/get the 350D and roll mATX thumb.gif

I can understand that...I wish the regular ATX version wasn't so damn expensive.

I modified the case a lot and I really need the room for the watercooling stuff, 360 and 240 rad and a pumpres combo dont fit in a 350D i think :x

I'm in love with the Sniper series colors and have the matching fluid...I guess a pure black motherboard could work though. But it would need the same quality onboard audio too...guess I have some researching to do. Or do you have any suggestions?

well, currently your options for a full black board (to my knowledge)
-MSI's high end board XPower but its costly
-MPower could work if you were to paint the heatsinks
-Gigabyte's boards will work if you remove the decal/stickers on the heatsinks (painting would require too much precision imo)

I checked out the buildlog by Lowfat, it looked good.

After comparing some more motherboards in the 250 $ max catagory I decided to just go with the Sniper M5 anyway. It has all the features I want and I'm sure I'll be able to make it look nice as it matches the rest of my build thumb.gif

I have been so impressed by the onboard audio on my sniper 2 that I really wanted another motherboard with great onboard audio (prefferably non-realtek). Seeing as all of the other boards are just realtek chips with a skin on top of it and a software package, the sniper is the clear winner for me. Thanks everyone for your input smile.gif
