AMD Athlon X4 760k help, should I buy?

I'm putting a new rig together for audio production and light gaming in Wow and LoL. After some reading, there's a little bit of discussion on this CPU since it slipped the radar when it came out and on its performance vs other cpu's.

I'm planning on OC'ing this to 4.4ghz but I'm curious as to how this would stand up against other CPU's and if this is a good cheap, but powerful choice of a CPU for my needs I'm audio production and light gaming.

If someone would please enlighten me on this CPU? An in-depth on as well?:-D

It's good and cheap for the money. My question is why would you want to buy one right now if Kaveri will be released soon? It's going to offer a lot more IPC than Richlands. (760k)

You can read more about Richlands in this article.

P.S.
Tomshardware recommends the 750k as it's still unlocked, cheaper, and they haven't heard reports of the 760k being binned higher. *shrug*
I would personally spend more money on the 760k if I had to choose one, but the truth is if you're thinking about building an FM2 platform you'd be a little strange not to go with a Kaveri chip coming up.

For video editing and audio processing, you can expect big gains from Kaveri over prior AMD chips thanks to HSA and huma.

I've never heard of Kavari, when is it coming out and thanks for the advice. Is that a budget or a higher end CPU?

february 2014. I imagine it will have the same pricing as the AMD Ax-6xxx series processors. Just make sure you get a FM2+ motherboard and you'll be set to install it if you want in the future.

760k is based on the Richland revision of Trinity, so higher overclocks are possible. The 760k is just an A10-6700 without the iGPU and is multiplier unlocked.

There is no actual release date for Kaveri right now. All that is known is that it is shipping later this year. Retail availability will either be Dec. 2013 or Jan. 2014.
