Windows 7 64 bit issues with ram and more?

Thread Starter

I have a laptop I just got its a Area 51 m17x r1 with 2GB RAM, dual 8600m 512mb in SLI and T8400 Intel Dual Core 2.4ghz. The ram was way to slow so I went on to new-egg and figured out it will take 800mhz ddr2 ram so I picked up a: Crucial (CT2KIT51264AC800) 8GB (2X4GB) PC2-6400 800MHz then I got Windows 7 64 bit. I put in the RAM installed the new OS. Now when I go to my System it says I have Windows 7 32 bit it says Installed memory (RAM): 8.00 GB (2.00 GB usable). So I even tried reinstalling it still had the same issues? I don't know what to do.... I am thinking about upgrading it to windows 8 64 bit that I bought a while back I just want to make sure it will install it as 64 bit even though its only showing it has 32 bit?

Also my battery was staying at 1% so I got a new battery and its still not working its still showing up at 1%? I am just really frustrated... any help would be great!

Thank you!

When installing Windows 7 or 8, you get the choice if you want to Install the 32bit version or the 64bit version.
So while installing W7 make sure you choose a 64bit version.

About the battery i have no idea
